Owners want putting down, Ive got a big loveable gentle clown of a dog but has never been around children and doesnt really know what they are, he easily knocks them over as he is can be boysterous. So I dont tend to ever let him off with children about incase they are scared they get knocked over etc, children tend to rile him as the scream run away and lift there hands up towars there body which makes him jump up. so in turn I hate children pretty much!!most of them
Dont blame the dog he doesnt obviously know any better.

Can't believe this thread is generating so much interest. Even in Dojj's original post there is no mention of aggression. If a 6'6" skinhead ran up to you does it automatically mean he is going to kick the shit out of you? As others have already stated if the dog was intent on attacking it would have done regardless of the owner calling it.
Dojj states that the owners have fallen out with other neighbours regarding parking issues but there are no mentions of previous problems with the dog so you can hardly say it was being judged on previous behaviour.
All the people on here jumping on the "i'd do this and i'd do that" bandwagon have not really got anything to base their arguments on. If the dog had of attacked then yes i would agree with you but it didn't so why are you all bleating?

Change the title please. Its misleading. This was just a dog on the loose. Nothing more nothing less. You are just scared. Wich is a normal reaction. It will go over in a few days.

my mrs and daughter were just out the front door when the neighbours dog came running out their house straight for my daughter, she's nearly 2 so not that big
the mrs gave it a twat in the face before the neighbour called the dog back, and off it went
he then gave his son a bollocking for letting the dog out and then went back inside
both the mrs and my daughter were in hysterics even though neither of them were bitten, but she still called plod who said "they would consider the evidence for 3 days before making a decision as to what to do"
they are classic benefit scrounging slacker stereotypes so going round ain't going to amount to anything other than getting a brick through my window so what are the options other than doing nothing and waiting for plod to do nothing about it either?

yea i agree theres lots of scum like that that dont work and have dogs etc and dont control them properly, but if a dog was going to attack then its not going to use its flopy ears and paws to attack is it, itll bite, so therefore the dog was obviously just excited to be out of the house much like mine, second front door is open they make a shoot for it and love any attention they can find, if you cant realise that then your an idiot and your the type of idiot that gives dogs bad names coming on here and posting your daughter was attacked, what was you expecting front page on news of the world? and what was your 2 year old doing left alone in the street? i know if i had a kid i wouldnt let my eyes off em nor would i be at such a distance i coudlnt protect them in this day and age, as for solving the problem i doubt police will do anything and throwing a brick through their window urself might feel satisfying but your gona be waiting for one to come back, so only solution is to move house if your really bothered...

I never worry that my dog is going to fight as he is always on a lead when out in public and hence under my complete control, just because i own a Staffy does not mean that i want him fighting other dogs - i am not your typical chav owner and know that he is not invincible just because of his breed type. If a dog is off its' lead in public and starts on my dog then my dog will defend himself but i will still try to split them up.

Exactly mate, you've just hit the nail bang on the head - what was the problem? As mentioned earlier there was no aggression displayed so no fear was intended by the dog.

Keep some chum on standby, and get the wife some self defence lessons, it's not good to have kids scared, but's it worse to have parents who are pussies, next door will want the gestapo on the door about as much as you want a 15" black rubber cock up your arse

Spot on there about staffs.I have one myself and she's absolutley gorgeous but does not like other dogs very much,I believe it's a trait of their breeding plus ours is eight and we've only had her 8 months or so.as for kids they're actually one of only two breeds that the kennel club recognize as being suitable for being left with children, ours is constantly checking up where we are in the house etc, very good guard dogs as well!!children love her because she's little and always happy,it's mainly uneducated people who know nothing about the breed that tut and mutter about them.I argued with one bloke once who said they should all be put down as they kill children.fucking retard!!!
dojj, your thread title is frankly ridiculous, how can you say your daughter was attacked when the dog didn't even bite or bark her?sure, she probably was frightened by the fact that a big dog came to see her but I'd be pretty certain it only did so to be her friend, don't tarnish all dogs the same way,the abuse my mates staff used to take was incredible ,kids throwing mugs at it,riding on his back and not once did he even bark or growl.

By the way thanks for sticking up for the breed, they get far too much undeserved bad press. I bet as soon as Dojj posted this most people thought of a Staffy or Pit Bull but to me it sounds more like an American Bulldog as Dojj describes it as "one of them big pit bull type things" but pit bulls are not usually that big, yes they are bigger than a Staffy but i still wouldn't class them as a big dog.

To clarify
My wife and 1 year old daughter had just stepped out of the front door.
The neighbours 2 doors down were saying goodbye to some of the guests.
Their staf ran out of their house.
Their staf then ran out of their garden.
Their staf then ran around the brick wall of our garden.
Their staf then started barking.
Their staf then came for my daughter.
My wife pulled the kid from out of the path of the dog.
By this time they were both screaming.
The dog then came back for a second run.
My wife moved our daughter out of the way and pushed the side of the staf with her arm.
The owner of the staf came round calling for the dog.
The dog trotted off.
The owner of the staf then gave his 10 year old a bollocking for letting the dog out of the house.
Then they waved goodbye to their friends and went back inside their house.
My wife called the police.
At no time was their any consideration from the owner as to what had happened.
The police community liason officer called and said someone would investigate the matter.
As mentioned earlier in the thread, dangerous dogs act can be classified as that in this case.
So a dog, on your property, barking at your small kid, seemingly out of control, is not a matter for concern to some? I would suggest that this means you do not have kids.
We have had no problems with these neighbours in the past (other than the aforementioned wing mirror incident earlier in the year) although others have.

vaughant, glad to hear how pleased you are with your dog and how well she fits in with your family (kids especially) but just 2 things not quite correct in what you wrote. The first one is regarding the Kennel Club advising that they can be left with children, to my knowledge there are no dogs that they would advise leaving children with. I trust my dog 99% but i trust children around him much less. A couple of months ago i had my 2 nieces around and they were sitting on the settee and as he approached very calmly and friendly the smallest niece kicked out at his head, he is now far more frightened of her than she is of him but that is the sort of thing that kids do that a less friendly dog might turn on. The second thing is that they make shit guard dogs due to their friendly nature, some books state that they are good guards but to be honest this is rubbish. If you come in my house he would sit and watch you take the TV, DVD player, jewellery and anything else you want and the worst you are likely to come away with is a slobbery patch where he licks you .

Btw, she had nightmares all night last night and muttering that she was "frightened" and "shoo naughty doggy" is enough for me to know it's because of this incident.

Dog ran over....mrs twated it...dog ran away....
Sounds like it was running over to play....if you twat a dog that intends to hurt you, you'll know about it!
Fair enough it can be a scary experience when a dog barks and runs towards you but remember all a dog can do is bark....it cant exactly greet you with a pleasant goodmorning can it???
Just my oppinion...
I dont however agree with the scrotes damaging cars etc

Looking at it in tht light it makes sense, but little kids don't know that and if the owner had come over to make sure things were ok I'm sure it would have worked out much better than it currently stands.
