Default Why do you like Fords?

This could be interesting.

What first got you into Fords? For me it was my dad taking to the International Ford show at Donnington park on my birthday a few years back. After setting my eyes on a MK2 RS2000 I was hooked.

How about you?

Liked fords since i was a young kid, 1st Ford to hook me was a Scalectrix car as it was a Mk3 3i, then a couple of years later my brother got the same shape but in Black.

Plus the fact the next door neighbour had a Moonstone RS500 when i was around 1989.

My dad always had fast Ford's, but after seeing home built monsters killing the Jap opposition for half the price, you can't help but love them. Driven plenty of fast cars, but nothing that gives you the raw satisfaction a lumpy, unrefined Ford can. Their a working man's car.

I got into fords for the ease of tuning and the amount of tuning parts you can get for most, but like others too such as mini(proper ones), earliest ford I can remember was me dads transit 1700 cc of raw V4 power, was awsome, long wheelbase twin wheel, used to take me bultaco on the moors at catterick every weekend.
Had loads of fords not regretted a single one, cooked a few HG's on me mk2 escy etc but worth it.

Dad always had Fords so it was always going to happen. But probably the biggest thing was my uncles Mk1 Mexico and Mk2 2k, both them cars were stunning and i just remember seeing them as a young lad and thinking i want one. Not got one yet though

It was the mark 2 Escort RS2000 for me then the 3 door Cosworth in touring cars. I always said I'd have an RS2000 but I never did and I really regret that now I still want a 3 door but good ones are getting harder to find

My dad was a big Ford nut and I guess it rubbed off me!

Always used to watch the RS500's in the the touring cars and my old man always used to bang on about them and since then I've always wanted one.

Now I do own one and I've never been more skint!!! Lol!

My dad always had Fords, and as a kid I helped him working on them.

So my first car was a Ford Cortina, and in the meantime had several Fords.

Drove 5 and 7-serie Bimmers, nice cars but Ford was always a drivers car for the common man. Especially the RS ones...

ive always liked them since a very young kid.
most my family had them when i was growing up.
my cousins always had cortina's and escorts which had been fettled.

i like them as they are easy to play with, pretty straight forward to repair.
great for tinkiering with.
spares are easily availble most the time.

they are just great toys

Through my school years in the early 90's reading Max power, Revs etc i used to dream about driving and what would be my first car - for a time i wanted a white Metro Turbo then Mk1 XR2 then after seeing a Citrine Yellow 3dr Cossie lookalike for sale in Revs i knew i wanted a Ford - when i was old enough to drive i was kind of influenced more when mate started buying Sierra's, S1, S2, FRST's so i got a Mint Orion 1.6 Ghia and the rest is history...........

I don't like Ford's. I like Cosworth, and as Ford chose Cosworth to design an engine for the Sierra I have no choice. If Vauxhall had chosen Cosworth I would be driving a Vauxhall Astra Cosworth

Working in a Rover/Jaguar garage I was used to chucking around big wallowing beasts, I found it fun
I hit 18 and fancied a Trans Am or that type of thing so still a V8 burble like the Rovers
I looked at several over a few weeks, and they were all rotten or scruffy for my budget
My mate spotted a MK 1 Capri with a Rover V8, Holley and Offey, cage, buckets etc and I had to have it once I saw it
Couldn't believe how much fun it was after all the heavy weight stuff I'd driven previously.
Unfortunately met my 1st wife through the Capri club though but I escaped eventually
Ran it for a few years as my daily, after sorting out the conversion correctly. It was a regular at all the shows and cruises back in the day but then the one in my avatar came up for sale which was a far better car, I'd known the owner for a while. Bought that, sold mine, had it ever since. It's not seen the road for many years although I've had various Capris and Escorts along the way once I'd got the bug
It'll be back soon

Would have to be a trip to Falmouth I took in the back of a 3dr Cosworth when they were brand new. I was only two or three years old at the time and while my memories of the trip are a little hazy, I can plainly remember the car: gleaming white and looking like nothing else I'd ever seen in my short life. It probably got me hooked not only on Fords but also on cars in general. My next memory of Fords is a seeing a Signal Orange Capri 3.0S flash past on the way to school one day later in the '80s; I thought it was just the most epic and amazing thing I'd ever seen, and I decided I had to have a Capri one day. When I was 19 years old, I realised that dream, buying my very own Capri 2.8 Injection. From then on, really, I became hooked on first old Fords and then new ones too. Part of it is the 'everyman' thing - they're all accessible, and you don't have to spend buckets to get a really fun Ford; part of it is the fact you can take, say, a £400 car, put a £200 engine in it, add £150-worth of suspension and another £150-worth of brakes, and end up with a truly capable, fun car for under a grand. Those kinds of cars really float my boat - especially when they have the capacity to blow away bigger, 'better' cars that people might have spent tens of thousands buying. Oh, and I also happen to reckon the Mk3 Escort is one of the coolest retro shapes on the road today. Not too many reasons, then...
