Everytime this subject comes up, no one ever suggests a decent insurance company sadly, it just seems to be not available unless you live in germany.

So basically no insurance for round the track... OR hire out some of the cars on offer.

The hire cars tend to cost more to crash than your own car will.

You normally have to pay about the first 6 grand of damage to the car, plus any damage to the track.

And unless you have a very expensive track car, it seems unlikely you will do 6K of damage to it.

Lol, I would expect it to be expensive, but available.

The only one Ive found that looks tempting so far is this:
http://www.nurburgmotorsport.com/Insurance.html

Doesnt cover the car, but at least it covers the track.

My bill for the track would have been 6K if I wasnt insured when I crashed there, so I dont fancy going there without some form of insurance as I cant really justify spending that sort of money if I have a crash.

You'll struggle to do more than 6K of loss if you crash it though, unless its a very new one, as they tend to break for good money anyway.

My mate spanked his E46 on the first corner when we last went, tapped the barrier that bokes out on the left hand side before the first major right, that was nearly 6k to repair and it honestly didn't look that bad but as you know these things add up.

He didn't get any charges from the track though as he really did just tap the barrier.

Christ knows what to do about insurance over there, I've read and understandably no one will confirm this that you are covered 3rd party even if your insurer exludes it as by German law its not a race track and there is no getting around that, its been said before though that the insurer ( if they had to pay out) would no doubt then attempt to claim it back of yourself afterwards but I don't know anyone who has been in the position so wether all of that is true or not.

I had a incident there and the insurer paid up, just as well considering they closed the track and called in a helicopter ! saying that they would not cover the fine from the track or what the Police fined me which in total was close to 2000 euros.
