Default engine rebuild

Hi all i need some advice ive just had my engine rebulid with 4 new standard pistons new uprated big end bearings uprated oil pump and water pump etc wanted to know whats the safest way of wearing the engine in and how many miles it will take heard mixed reviews.

At the moment its runinng 10w 40 semi syn oil and ive done 100 miles was thinking of changing it at 500 miles for the same stuff then at 1000 put mobil one in does this sound ok?

Just what it to be safe before i get it set up was gonna go to devil devolopments in littlehampton has any one been there or know there ok.

is it a fiesta turbo engine?

dont hammer it but dont be frighten to give it some boost, plenty of overruning, varying revs and a bit of boost

i would be using mineral oil to begin with then change to semi then change to full syn

Is that right for a rebuild engine to have tiny bits of metal in the oil?

use a cheap mineral oil on your fresh new engine NOT semi for the 1st lot of miles cuts down the chance of the rings glazing in the bores m8 which is what you DONT want.

there very tiny shavings that i can see on the dipstick like 1mm if that since ive had the car back they put 10w 40 in it shal i change to mineral oil at this stage or can it damage my engine?

Will just be happy to have my car set up to 16psi or less just want it to be more reliable and not go bang after the money ive spent on it.

Can the rings still do damage to the bores as have only had new pistons and rings and new uprated bearings i dont think the engine has had any manching work done to the bottom end to the bore etc.

I wouldnt listen to anyone on the internet personally, unless I rebuilt it myself and didnt know any better..

Ask your engine builder what they would do to run it in, that way if it fails, you can go back and say "I ran it in like you told me....." instead of "nah I listened to Tam on passionford who said give it 2 bar an bounce it off the limiter"

ahh good the standard rod bolts are a week point in the cvh imo.

i would not aim for a boost presure to run i would be aiming for a power output.

stick to around the 190 mark with the t3 turbo

Drop the oil to see if any metal comes out with it, and as said you should be using mineral oil for running in.
