Default RSOC Advantages??

What is there to gain from joining the RSOC?

I sighned up, paid my £35 and got a bunch of stickers and a mag through the door. Also the forum is much the same as this, which is free.

So it looks to me like a pointless cost. Maybe i just havent read into it enough.

I would think it will be more about how into the scene you want to be, meets, shows etc etc, not massively clued up on what they offer but guessing you can get onto their stands, get deals on insurance, got to the meets etc etc

I suppose there hasnt been an RSOC bashing thread for at least a week so another was due

But my membership fee to The RSOC has allowed me to pay less for RSOC organised trackdays and I have saved 2 if not 3 times my membership fee this year for Croft - Combe - Tockwith - Pembrey Need I go on ?

If you feel you not getting Value For Money then do not renew next time

Also it may worth thinking why did you pay your money in the first place !

What did you EXPECT to get when you joined ?

oh sorry troops, never noticed this debate before.
Can still go to meets, theres none all that local to me anyways.
And it never saved me a penny on insurance.

Just a very over-priced tax disk holder then i guess

Use The Passionford SEARCH button and input RSOC

Plenty to read there as these type of threads run for ages

The mag is good quality and is bi monthly, you have access to the car's registrars etc as well, and you can show on the stands if wanting to as well as various discounts as well.

Advantages

Insurance deals
Discount from many of the tuners/suppliers out there
Helping each other out (I've made some great friends through the rsoc)
The meets, support all you local ones and encourage those groups to do the same.
rsoc shows and events through the season
experience sharing between members, (advice)
parts

to name a few

the rsoc does take a slaughtering but really its not a bad outfit

Thats what I am getting at

So what made your mind up to join ?

Was there a single "benefit" of membership that met your own particular needs ?

Like any club, the RSOC is more than a website (that is only a small part) and the more you get invloved the more you will benefit, it wont be for everyone but EVERYONE would miss it if it wasn't around.

It sounds like atm it isn't for you, plenty will feel the same, plenty will see it as a worthy club to be a part of and are happy to pay £35 to give their support.

I expected to be blind folded, shoved into a transit van and taken to a large airplane hanger full of cossies and told to help myself.

No really i'm not saying RSOC is shit by any means. Its just i don't see what i got for my dosh. There doesn't seem to be any info or they dont tell you how to access any info (yes databases etc).
What did i subscribe for?- well i was just trying to get more into the ford RS scene. Been into them for a while now and if my car would go i'd get my ass to more meets and stuff.
So do all you guys use they're web forum aswell then or what.

Unfortunatly due to Data Protection Act only a very limited amount of info can be given out.

I take it you have contacted the registrar if not speak to the relevant registrar and you may be surprised just how helpfull they can be

Hope you aint got an RS500 Sierra as the registrar is a bit of a cock though

without taking the piss buddy i honestly think most of them subscribe because, like me, they own a RS.
People who on GTI's prob subscribe to an official GTI owners club

You see you joined a golf club- you get to use the coarse.
You join the RSOC you get discount ticket for national day.

Not that i grudge the £35 fee btw. I'd pay £100 if it was only clear what i was buying

There is a difference between buying and subscribing.

If you want to buy something visit a shop. If you want to join a club and get involved then you've made the first step by paying a fee.

When you join a club mate you join to be a part of somthing , not to get items for free

You pay so the club can survive

If you paid £35 but expect £35 of goods back how can the club possible survive ?

How could wages be paid , the mag be produced and sent to you , your tax disc and stickers be paid for

Registrars forms / envelopes / stamps be paid for etc etc

Every club charges a subscription for overheads to run the club its that simple realy

fair comment, spot on! but to be part of the RSOC web forum its free and anyone can join so, like here, your going to get the odd waster. everyone and anyone is part of the dedicated RS group then.
Passionford seems to be more popular for info etc

If the RSOC forum was for members only maybe then would it be worth while because you would be discussing issues with people who mostly have a clue.

I can only imagine most of these RSOC meets must be down south. Great, but i can't really invove myself unfortunately.
My most local group is westofscotland, which is a good distance away, has a decent crowd and back to my point has no subscription fee.

I'm not going to see any real advantage from joining the RSOC then, prob should have thought about that right enough but i guess it is only £35 after all

What do you mean the west of scotland group has no subscription fee
The lads and lasses there will all be paying RSOC members . if not then they can attent RSOC shows etc but cant go on club stands etc

I realy think you dont get the idea of what being / paying to be in a club is all about

seems to me your one of those who wants the benefits of the club but doesnt want to pay for the privalage

FFS its £35

Plus i dont understand your comments about the website , ?

There is a dedicated Members area if you dont want to talk to none members

My insurance company will accept their agreed valuation on my car & not from anyone else, that alone is worth it.
Outside of this rather spitefull Forum it is still the Official & best club for RS owners.

Exactly Rod

But sorting a valuation for RSOC members costs the club money and is done for the RSOC member FREE of charge

This is only one of the FREE services you get from being a member and one of the most important IMO
