Typing was very bad, or very slow to get accurate (compared to HTC Desire, HD2, Sony Xperia X10).
Confused, my Iphone plays in full screen, just hold it sideways

Also the texting is amazing! i was worried about getting a phone with no buttons, but tbh i wondered why i was worried.

iPhone 3G (54g)

Laptop (54g)

For those confused about what the G is all about in iPhones - "2G" is a moniker given to the iPhone after the 3G was released to differentiate between the iPhone and the iPhone 3G. The "3G" points to it being able to run on the "3G" mobile/cellular networks. The "iPhone 2G" is actually just "the iPhone", and the iPhone 4G, as people are calling it, is actually just "iPhone 4" - the G means nothing.

Back in the day, Apple used to use a G, short for Gen/Generation, to note apart different models of the same thing. For example, the iPod - there was the iPod, then the iPod 2G = 2nd Generation iPod, then the 3rd Gen (iPod 3G) then the 4th Gen (iPod 4G) and so on. Some got halfway gens (iPod 5.5G). This was done away with when the iPod Classic (which would have been 6th Gen/6G) was released. The iPhone has never had these Gen names - 1st was iPhone (metal back, 4gb and 8gb), then the increased capacity iPhone (metal back, 8gb and 16gb) then the iPhone 3G (plastic black 8gb and 16gb, black and white) then the iPhone 3GS (S denotes "speed" as it had a faster processor - plastic back, 16gb and 32gb, white and black) then the now current iPhone 4 (glass back, 16gb and 32gb, black or white). So using the original Gen numbering system, the current iPhone 4 would actually be a 5th Gen, the 3GS would be 4th Gen, 3G, ironically, would be 3rd Gen, the "2G" would be 2nd Gen and the original incarnation wouldn't have a Gen number, but be given a retrospective 1st Gen.

I'll get my coat
Just for the sake of a comparison,

This is a test done on my iPhone 4,

And this is a test done on my Nokia N900

Out of curiosity, were you connected by 802.11g or 802.11n on your iPhone Daz?

Both tests were done on G Thrush. I'm pretty sure it is as out WiFi router is knocking on a bit and it's got g on it and 54g on it...

Just for interest sake, this is a test again with the same 2 phones, the iPhone 4 and the N900, both on Orange network and the test was the speed of the 3G network itself.

N900

iPhone 4

n900 is still rubbish in comparison, it will take more than a online speedtest to convince me otherwise

Infact, whats your views? since you own both

I'm not trying to prove anything. It was purely for interest purposes only.

To answer your question in a one sentence, if I was to sell one it would be the iPhone.

u having a laugh?! lol

I got my problem sorted in the end after 2 weeks of calls and arguing despite not actually getting a reason/excuse as to who fucked up sending me a 3gs rather than the 4 i ordered (after going on the vodafone forum looks like it happened to a few people!!) In the end i got £50 credit on my account and they have taken £10pm off my tarriff for the whole 18month contract! and althou i was told it would be a possible 1-2week wait i got the phone 3days later!!

Being my first iphone and holding off as long as poss from being an apple sheep i actually have to say the phone is awesome!! was concerned as said by someone else about having a touchscreen phone and not buttons but have gotten used 2 it no probs, and the speed of the menu's and sensitivity is actually damned impressive!! Pisses all over anything nokia have to offer, and even the N95 being a good phone for its time the menu scrolling etc is sluggish in comparison!!

Only thing i dont think is quite as good as competitors is the camera, althou its 5mp dont think its quite as good as others but deff an improvment over the 3gs and good enough for shots on the move etc!!!

Anyone think the battery is any better than the previous phones?! cant compare myself now having had a 3gs but doesnt last as long as i hoped, bu then guess thats due to playing games all the time on it lol
