The shower tray in our ensuite has been draining very slowly recently and it's got to the point now where if you're in the shower for more than five minutes it overflows. What can I put down the drain in the shower tray to help it drain more freely? A guy at work said I can put bleach down there but I wasn't sure whether that was the right thing to do. I tried one of those foaming unblockers but it didn't seem to do much.

Ideas and opinions much appreciated.

Thanks!

Can you not lift the centre of the drain out, most shower traps you can unblock remove from the top.

Thanks mate, I'll have a look but it's probably beyond my very limited DIY abilities.

Should be easy m8, its designed that way so you can lift out the centre and remove the hair and soap which block it.

Our shower you can lift out the chrome plug hole bit then pull out a white plastic hook thing underneath which catches all the hair. You could also try unscrewing the shower head and use the pipe on full blast to shove down the hole and to try and clear any blockages.

Ours used to do it until I replaced the chrome plug hole bit for one of these;

Stops all the hair going down the hole now and is a doddle to keep clean!

pour on:
1 cup bicarbonate soda
1 cup salt
half cup of vinegar
kettle full of boiling water.

et voila.

Works a treat on any sink or the shower.

Pour vinegar on just before the water. It foams like fuck and does the job well.
