Any one elses ITV HD cut to a break by mistake seconds before england scored the first and only goal meaning the goal was completely missed?

apart from the howler it would have been a comfortable 1-0 victory

as it stands its no big deal getting the draw and the nervous first game is over best is yet to come

I thought glen johnson was the best player for england, bradley bossed midfield for the yanks though. Its blindingly obvious that gerrard and lampard cant play together.

For anyone thinking that was anything but a shocking performance would definitely wanna take the blinkers off. To be fair, USA have not 1 player that's even good enough to play in the premier leagues top 4 teams. England should have easily brushed them aside. From that performance that's not world cup winning form.
Lampard and Gerrard are easily 2 of the top midfielders in europe but there is no way they can play together. Too much space between the 2 of them in the middle of the field. They are both great play-makers but for some reason they just cancel each other out.
The only way england will have any chance to lift the world cup is to sort out that area. More clever teams like brazil, spain and argentina will stroll right down the middle of them.

I don't understand why England can't produce a top drawer keeper.... You'd think with all the teams in the Premier League, they could round up a few top dog keepers!

Although, Green's scramble back to try and get the ball before it went in was comedy gold.

They'll still go on about winning the world cup, right up until they get on the plane to come home

Still can’t understand why every manager plays fat Frank and Gerrard together, but the cheers when the USA scored were unbelievable, even better than being there

Rooney might as well have not showed up.
old man Heskey in his usual "couldn't hit the side of a barn" shooting.
Wright philips dispossesing himself about 100 times. (he needs to learn to go round players rather than trying to run through them)
And the only bit of up front genius coming from Glen Johnson!
And Greens amazing save..no wait.. I dont care what anyone says, yes people make mistakes, BUT NOT AT THE WORLD CUP. Said it before the game even started, he should be playing Hart in goal.

We don't stand a chance.

Get rid of heskey and have Defoe on and we will have much more goals - guy is an embarrassment. The bar i was in erupted to cheers when he was subbed lol

I think Green redeemed himself but Hart is a much better keeper.

We probably wont win it but people need to remember the winner usually starts off slow and builds up momentum through the tournament.

Id be more worried if we demolished the USA in the 1st game...... in general the slow starter is firing by the end of the competition, the early leader tends to nose dive ....

Hardest group game in the highest altitude and the nerves of the first game, so im happy with a draw, yeah we should on paper have beaten usa but they have come on leaps and bounds since the last WC. If a few more of the team turned up today we would have looked class....

as far as team selection, id have hart or james before green, crouch before E"mule" and wtf did phillips come on for milner for on the Left side?? Was joe not on the bench?

Hopefully the 1 point that confirms groups winners after the next 2 games....

We were dog dirt imo though lol

Were you watching the same game??? Or did your ITV not come back on

Comfortable would be one of the last words to describe that!

The whole Lampard Gerard thing, I think is knee jerk. The problem was the 2 wide men didn't come in to help them. The US wide men were always prepared to tuck inside when required, which in effect made it 2 against 4 in the middle of the park. Doesn't matter who you are, Lampard, Gerard or whoever if it's 2to1 then you stand little chance. And then to make things worse England don't play the ball out wide often enough to utilise them, so why have them there if you're not going to play that system. Milner and Lennon just didn't perform for me.

Capello must take the blame for that.

First off, the porridge wogs havn't even got a team in the WORLD CUP FINALS! So therefore you have NO valid opinion, so jog on

With regards to the game, first goal was good, great pass by Hesky, great finish by Gerrard as well.... After that we conceeded possesion far too often and easily, and to be honest the USA looked like scoring, but Greens fumble was not the way I was expecting it. We needed halftime, and in the second half we bossed the game, and had 4 or 5 good chances to score, the only one the USA had was the chance where Green saved onto the post.

We SHOULD have won, but a mistake by the keeper and failure to take our chances cost us. Roony was poor for most of the game, Hesky actually played well most if the game. I think the next two games will be much better.

not a bad result at all tbh
3 points shouldve been ours but for the howler
thought we were the far better team when we actually played a bit rather than hoofing the ball at heskey
gerrard and johnson looked good, heskey needs fucking off ,swp shouldnt be in the sqaud let alone on the pitch gives the ball away far to much

I like the way the English commentators were asking Tim Howard if they felt lucky to get a point. Typical English arrogance, totally glossing over the fact the Americans came closest to winning the game (hit the post)

It's the English media why I don't want England to do well. So full of shit. You hear the excuses the commentator made for Milner being subbed, after 30 minutes, "because he was on a card and had also been ill". Fuck all to do with him getting raped by the full back and doing fuck all going forward then?

First thing they say after the draw, "same thing happened in 1966". fucks sake, give it a rest.
