Oddly enough a good bit of us over here do give a shit that the World Cup is on, we even manage to catch a few games at work yesterday. Was too busy today as my 8 year old had his final soccer game of the season. So yea soccer is pretty popular over here, but so many other sports played I doubt it will be as widely played or viewed as baseball, football or basketball (NBA finals now).

They say association football is the most played sport in the USA and definitely the most played sport at school level. Yanks just don't watch football in as many numbers. There's still a fair few over there who like the Premier league etc though. Quiet a few on the United boards anyway.
