Default Cat cleaning

Head gasket went on my GTI the other week and it dumped some oil into the exhaust and cat but whats the best way to get it cleared out and i don't want to drive it and smoke up other drivers on the road

I was thinking about taking it off and putting hot air gun in the end to burn off the oil

Is there anything else that can be done to get rid of it?

I thought once a cat has oil on it and has been contaminated it was for the bin as it wont work properly.

Just drive it up to temperature, it will soon burn off.
