Default Engine experts i need your help please

Picked up a st170 engine today, was sold to me as a none runner so i knew there would be problems
Anyway the guy said it has lost compression as was not sure what the problem is
Started to strip it down, took the inlet off and the was pure black oil dripping out,so not a good start
Got the head off and all the valves were fine(not bent) apart from some have a little rust on them as if water has got in at some point
Also the bores dont look great and theres slushy stuff like what you find in a rad,the head gaskit looks okay apart from its in 3 bits and they were flapping about (might be normal i dunno)
I was expecting some bent valves due to slipped belt of something
So im unsure of what the problem is.all i know is oil has got in the inlet and it seems water in the bores
pics to follow

Has it been driven through a really deep puddle and bent all the rods?

id get the head compression checked and the bores inspected properly. It might just need re honing and some new rings fitting.

Worst case scenario is it'll need a few parts or a head.

Was this the one for sale on ebay?

I was thinking about getting it myself if so

If there's any bits you work out you need mate, let me know, i've stripped a few of these as donors for my car and have now got a surplus of bits

May have more than one problem, ie HG and rings gone, ring wear can result in oil in inlet.

Initial thought was HG immediately. But I think the problem might stem deeper than that.
