Default Sliding

I have got a 2006 Ford Focus and recently I have had the same problem re-occur.
When I was going round a roundabout and left at some traffic lights, the car seemed to slide a little. My son was in the passenger seat on one of these occurances and he got very scared.
This problem has happened once in the wet and once in the dry. I feel very worried to drive the car, just in case I loose full control.
The only 2 things that I can think it may be are either the tyres or ABS.

From your post I would suspect your driving to fast for the road conditions. More by the fact that the slide was enough to scare your kid? and worried you?

Maybe take the car to be checked over to ensure everything is in good order at the front, tyres, ball joints, suspension etc.

If all is ok, then maybe look at how quickly you are attempting to corner.

Could be any manner of things, check the free things first like tyre pressures, a badly worn bush in the wrong place can cause this also.

Are you sure the roads not greasy ??

Usually when its rained for the first time in ages and leaves the roads very greasy and very easy to slide if going a tad too fast even though its maybe your normal driving.

Certainly wont help if you have cheap plastic tyres fitted

my wife has a st170 and not long after buying it she started to slide round a wet roundabout, she wasn't going fast as i was in the car with her.

the rear tyres were a cheap make so decided to fit a pair of avon tyres and she's never had any problems since then, so it could be cheap or worn rear tyres causing the problem
