Been out in the Ferrari today. Was fucking AWESOME! Saw loads of people taking photos so hopefully will have some of nice ones of it!

I promised myself I would take it easy... But I couldn't help myself! Car was the bollocks and very fast!

Must admit... Was loving all the attention and I felt like a proper hero driving it hard around there and seeing all the crowds waving!

Clio has done ALOT of laps and is just awesome! Maria is doing very very well and going around in under 10mins in it bridge to gantry now!
Proper little car. Really like it!

just ran it stupidily.... It's really shonky tyre and even more stupidly I haven't checked the pressure on it and the tyre pressure system is saying simply 'CAL!' which I guess means something bout needing calibration at ferari dealer because I had the blowout?

Chips been out in it tonight he quite liked it

Spun the beemer earlier, carrying a little too much corner entry speed - luckily didn't hit anything though. Damaged a plastic cover underneath, which Ginge fixed for me by pulling it off - cheers mate!

I would guess its more down to that tyre being a different pressure to the rest of them, so its telling you to calibrate the tyres!?

Would definetly check it before you take it on again!

edit: done some searching and theres a few things it could be.

1. calibration issue, check the tyre pressures and then you press and hold the reset button below the dash for a certain amount of time, then a 20 minute drive. it tells you this in the manual, if you dont have it with you you need to register as an owner here : http://www.ferrari.com/English/Pages.../MyGarage.aspx and the manuals are available there for all models. But here is the general info :
Turn the ingnition to position II,then hold the button(t-press) for between 4-10 seconds, then go drive it for 20mins,this will recalibrate the systen,if 0.4bar difference is detected it will not calibrate.
2. the other issue could be that you need a longer tyre valve in the new tyre, due to the tyre pressure and temperature monitor, if they fitted a normal length one, it will be "unplugged". the sensor is hard coded to the car, so you only need a new one if you change the wheel and not the tyres.

hope that helps.

No if the pressure is wrong in a tyre, it tells you which one and how much by I believe.

So I think it just needs calibrating or something.

Either way, I think as Lee did a couple of good laps (sub 9 mins is not hanging about in ANY car really) its probably best to just think to himself "done that, nothing left to prove" and leave it for now, as imagine how gutted he would be if that tyre did have a problem due to its unknown history
(its not bald or anything, but for all he knows it might have been run flat and have damaged sidewalls or something like that)
Discretion is the better part of valour and all that.

Clio is good on track, in fact very good, its just SO easy to drive, would make the perfect tuition car for trackdays I reckon if the brakes were just slightly less agressive.

fair play for taking it round, and for having the bollocks to do a sub 9min lap!

shows that either lee has great faith in the man above, or no problem paying up for bent barriers lol

to be fair its hardly an ecosaver tyre, its still a top brand performance tyre, just not a new or matching one

Biggest worry with it is the unknown history, it may have been run flat by a previous owner and weakened the sidewall.
I'd not want it on there for long if that was my car and I was going to do 170+ up the autobahn like Lee does with it.

does that mean that every car we buy we should change the tyres as we don't know the history of them??

with a careful inspection before fitting any damage to a tyre should be obvious...

but who am I to comment it's not my life or rari is it!!!

i thought the tyre pressure sensor on cars worked off a rolling diameter set up. like whats on most other cars. if pressure drops it alters the rolling diameter of the wheels which it detects which it indicates its losing pressure. So it doesnts necessarily mean its at a different pressure just a different overall diameter. The reset switch should sort it out. Probaby just a different size tyre and if the tread is worn more than on other this would be enough to trigger the sensors.

The 2 estate cars parked at the entrance with guys standing next to them, they look like they are waiting to check roadworthy vehicles. looks like they are deffinately clamping down on vehicle condition and road worthyness. seen them stopping cars and inspecting them.

If you are planning on doing sustained massive speeds like 170+ then yes it would be a prudent idea to do so.
And dont forget with a secondhand tyre someone has already got rid of it for some reason, so its hardly inspiring

with a careful inspection before fitting any damage to a tyre should be obvious...
If you can tell if the sidewall has strength has been compromised by running very low pressure you are doing well unless its so low its scrubbed the writing.

but who am I to comment it's not my life or rari is it!!!
Id probably risk it as well if it was on one of my cars, but im one of lifes compulsive risk takers anyway

The ferrari system monitors tyre pressure and temperature pressure, hence the reason to reset it you need to drive for 20 mins, so it can measure the tyre temp of all 4 to see if they are matching or not.
