Whos owned or owns a fiesta st?
Just wondered if you thought they were slow as fuck in the first couple gears? Normally on previous cars 2nd gear is the gear where you really get going and can destroy other normal family cars etc but with this fiesta st ive just got its only till im up into 3rd anddoing about 60odd by then that i start pulling off.
Recent embarasements were:- R reg seat ibiza, a normal one, and the other day a fucking huge shitty citreon c5 thing
Im like what the hell is up with this car lol. Its standard and only done 19k. I also find when it sitting there idleing that the exhaust is quite blowy from the tailpipe. Are they like this or has the exhaust gone already and maybe im losing power? Car is a 07 plate and as already said has only done a genuine 19k.

............
Torque limited in 1st and 2nd to protect the ib5 soa bit slow off the mark.
Good car on the move, fantastic chassis, very tunable. One of the best cars i owned
EVO mag rated the mountuned version over the clio 182.

Thanks for the replies, im glad im not the only one whos thinking what i think. Dont get me wrong, i hink its a great little car and on a whole im chuffed to bits with it but yeah the performance is really lacking low down and going to fitp today i really wanted a 6th gear, 3.5k revs at 70mph gets a bit of a headache after a while.
Im thinking about getting one of those miltek flexi pipes, they get rid of the standard very much restricted one that ford fitted. Apparently they have a 40 odd mm restrictor in them from he factory.
Told myself im going to leave it standard as my toy is my cossie managed series2 that im building, but to be honest im intrigued and keep thinking a 2.0 engine in a fiesta should be or at least can be made to be a right little pocket rocket.
Its going back to ford in the week for warranty work, when im driving along i keep hearing a weird whirring buzzing noise, does it when sitting there at idle to, seems to be coming from the exhaust i think just behind the engine underneath the car, fook knows what that is, bet ya life it wont do it when i take it in.

I wouldn't say it was a car built for outright speed it was built to be lots of fun in the twisties.
I had lots of fun in mine on B roads and the like and day to day driving was fun, trying to beat anything in a straight line though was avoided as I knew 9 times out of 10 I probably couldn't.
I would never buy another though as we now have a 1.4 TSI Cupra with DSG gearbox and thats both quick in a straight line and fun round the twisties!

Jamie - yeah mate i got it, i'll pop over to show u sometime soon.
Lambchop- i know exactly what your saying mate, funnily enough the first car i got into a bit of a dual with literally few days after getting it coming off a roundabout onto the next bit of dual carriageway was a saxo vts and i only just started passing him but then dropped off and pulled back in behind as the speed was getting to what i thought is starting to get silly (71mph officer) and i had the mrs in the car to which i wouldnt want to do anything dangerous with her there.

I had a quick look at that car today, was filthy lol. Mountune kit would be good but i cant warrant spending that sort of money on a car thats supposed to be my everyday get around lol, especially when i have a unfinished rs turbo sitting in the garage lol.
