Default servicing a 1.1 escort mk4

right! My escort needs a service doing as it passed more than 6 months, 7 1/2 to be exact!

the spark plugs needs doing. a mechanic told me that denso is the best out there? and will be buying silkolene oil.

now for the oil, what grade should I use? and how much itres does a 1.1 take?

When it comes to plugs, Ford engines (especially the zetecs) seem to run best on genuine ford. And they are no more expensive from ones you can get off the shelf anywhere else. Although you could probably suspend a lighted match from each plug hole and you wouldn't nitice much difference in performance

I think oil is grade 10w40 for the hcs engine.

OHV engine: with filter change - 3.25 liters
without filter change - 2.75 liters

CVH engine: Carburettor engines with filter change:
Pre-July 1982 - 3.75 liters
July 1982 onwards - 3.50 liters
Carburettor engines without filter change:
pre-July 1982 - 3.50 liters
July 1982 onwards 3.25 liters
Fuel-injected engines with filter change - 3.85 liters
Fuel-injected engines without filter change - 3.60 liters

its a 1987, dont now the engine type tbh but think its an ohv

searched google for a haynes manual, and nothing!

For an older engine you are best off using 15 40w. Ive got an XR3i an just put cheap plugs in and runs and starts fine.

the engine is a HCS 1097cc. anyone has more ideas?
