Check with your painter, as most of the time they want to prep it them selfs as you could create more work pre-painting.
You could just strip the car ready for prep and paint?
Edit to add - what sort of prep work are you looking to do? bare metal? blow over? dents? rust?

PassionFord Post Whore!!
As said have a word with the painter, More than likely you will get asked just to strip the can and leave the panels to them as I can tell you for certain you wont get it to their standard where the painter will be happy to apply, and you could end up making more work for the painter.
Prep is the easiest thing to fuck up to get your paint looking shit.

The will block sand it to remove any imperfections but if you did it and then have then got to drive it there and its got bits of exposed metal itl start to rust on a microscopic level, especially if it rains. You could sort any major dents and rust to keep the bill down tho.
