Default Wheels and sizes

hi guys, I'm on the cusp of purchasing a clean set of 16's for my GTi,but am a bit puzzled.they are the 16inch version of the GTi alloy, found on the mondeo si/zetec s. Every set I have viewed has been listed as 195 width, which is just right for the car,but this set is listed as 205,with 205/45 tyres.do they come in that design in 195 and 205,or is it that both size tyres fit on the same rim?? Probably being a bit thick, but thanks to my parental insomnia, things like this, plus tryin to plan ways to fund a Cam/gas head job, have pickled my fragile mind.any help would be great. Cheers peeps

It's only 10mm wider so I'd say ther defo the same wheels, it's not uncommon to see difference widths of tires or aspect ratios, on the same size wheels. Almost all wheel widths are measured in inchs I.e. 17" x 7j so matching a tire size in mm isn't always perfect

if they have come off a mondeo the tyre size will probably be 205/50/16
but i run 195/45/16s on my escort dropped 60mm with no issues

At the others said its exactly the same wheel just a different width of tyre fitted.

If anything thats probably better to have a slightly wider tyre fitted. I have 205 17 on my civic and it grips like a go kart

Sound guys that cleared it up a bit for me,will probs go for 195,as im dropped 30 or 40mm on this car,but used to own a standard 1600 with 16 inch alloys riding 205/45,and the tyre walls got torn to pieces if It hit bumps or had more than one passenger in the rear lol!

you sure? i had a gti and it was in the clouds as standard, 30-40mm would be no where near the arch liners id have thought.

Wrong offset i'd guess? Friend of mine had correctly fitting 205/40/17 on a lowered escort, didn't rub at all.
