Brightness down, location services off, wifi off unless i need it etc...
Still needs charged most nights. Only thing i can moan about though. Rest of it is superb.
As for the 4g.. i doubt thats it? Bit of a pish story, found in a bar etc etc...?

That has almost defo been leaked on purpose, its called hype lol.
Looks very nice thou.
With battery life I think its to be expected that a modern phone thats being used for calls, texts, games, camera, bluetooth and wireless internet browsing will need charging everyday. My HTC uses 2/3rds of its battery in a day, and I use it alot.

charging everyday isnt the end of the world, but if i use my iphone a lot it canes the battery in well under a day
i like the screen on bright and to use wifi etc, so its a pain in the arse that the battery isnt better as I see no point in having a good phone and then having to disable everything and look at a dim screen etc just to try and make it through the day like some folks do.

My screen is dimmed right down too, but when looking at pictures on Facebook and stuff, you have to really take a look to see fuck all which means going back and brigtening the screen and stuff.

i would be suprised if they release the 4g this year.
1 as they've just realised the ipad, and 2, 4g is only is infancy in the US it will be like 2012 before its even over here, so all your paying for is a camera on the front for video calls, which no one ever does anyway.
i've just got the 3gs last week after have the 3g for like 2 years, battery life is much better, much fast aswell, i think i will go for the new HTC next, as i might sell this iphone on ebay as its only like a week old.

Personally, I think it looks much better than the current one - I was gutted to give up my 2G for a 3G as I so much preferred the flat metal back, and slightly smaller size. So if this is the real thing, and it is overall smaller with a flat back, I'll be well chuffed I always thought the 3G/S phones looked kinda cheap too, with their curved plastic backs
As for the story, soon as I read it yesterday I thought it was bullshit. I have a run of the mill 3G iphone and I've never "forgotten it" or left it anywhere. So if you had a pre release, prototype, one of a kind next gen iPhone, of course you'd leave it in a bar by mistake
Personally, I think Apple decided to hype it so it isn't overshadowed by the iPad, and because they have a history of keeping completely tight lipped, they couldn't just start showing pics or talking about it, so harnessed the viral power of the internet and "accidentally lost it" so that a well known Apple fanboi site "found it" and released all the info on it...

What you have to remember is that the iphone is a little computer not a phone as such! if you had a laptop with a days worth of battery you would be well happy! i know its not quite the same but all these new smart phones are computers!
also with all the extras like oled screen, front facing camera and possibility of removable battery (not 100%) its gonna be a wikid phone! roll on summer!

The facts are, that it could very well be the 4g phone, or it could not?!
There is a lot of rumour of the 4g being released this summer(?) and even back in January i was told similar by 3 O2 employees, now that could be just bollocks as we all know Apple dont say shit about anything they sell till the item arives in store almost...BUT....
Think about it for one minute, there been a fair bit of upgrade in OS and hardware over the last 12months from the 3g to the 3gs and from OS 2.xx to 3.xx which would all be a waste of time and money if no one was to buy a 3gs iphone, everyone would wait for the 4g, makes perfect sence to wait say 12 months for the 4g instead of buying a 3gs.
Maybe the guy who lost the phone actually was testing it and did lose it, none of us here will know for sure.
i do know im holding back for the 4g to replace my 3g.

Steve, it's is highly rumoured that a new iPhone will be released this summer. But that's because there has been a new one every summer since it's inital release several years ago.
As for O2 employee's knowing anything - erm, ok Apple keep info about new products incredibly close to their chest, so there isn't likely to be anyone at O2 that's in the know about it, let alone employee's that you or I would come into contact. Possibly a head honcho at the top, but not a spotty shop oik They are like Curry's sales staff - good to haggle with, but don't listen to anything they have to say about a TV
There was very little in upgrade from the 3G to 3GS in terms of hardware. A faster processor, a higher resolution camera and a built in compass. The rest is software. As for OS updates, they are going to happen anyway, regardless of new handsets coming out or not.
What you have to remember with Apple is they've been doing this a lot longer than iPhones have been about. And they've been playing the same games for just as long. Look at the iPods - Currently on the 6th Gen "Classic", they change them SLIGHTLY every so often, and people will buy them. All of them! They make little changes and hype it so that you think "wow, I MUST have that!" and you buy it. Same deal with the iPhone - I don't believe that the first iPhones weren't MMS capable at all - my 2G had MMS WAAAAAY before Apple implemented it. It also had Bluetooth file transfer, and video recording - 2 years before the 3GS was released. But Apple said that it wasn't possible, which is why we had to wait for the 3GS to come out as it had hardware revisions to make it possible. Strange then that my 2G that had inferior hardware was able to do it? See what I'm getting at?
This is just Apple, they've been doing this for years. Little by little they roll out what should have been in the first place, and it's not because they are continually developing it, but because they can make a fuck load more money by selling everyone three iPhones than just one
