Specky's is a road legal car with road legal tyres and running the 10s though, and on only basic fast road suspension setup too. if you think the vauxhall lads are running pure drag cars you are totally mistaken.
Speckys has done 11.3 on 888 toyos, and 10.8 on road legal tyres which are more drag suitable.
If you boys decide to run on nangkangs or something then thats up to you but its not a very wise decision if you want to be competitive.

At TOTB the results will compare them to the vauxhalls, so just trying to give the ford boys a bit of a nudge.

The FWD Ford effort has massively improved over the last year but lets not turn the blinkers on we're still a long way off other marques.
It's only what we will be compared to and we should be using every thing availible, again this boils down to people not as bothered about the 1/4 mile with Fords still. Unlike the Vauxhall/Honda/VW boys no one's willing/dedicated enough to stump up the Ł400+ on a pair of Mickey T's or whatever.
It's a good step though and I'm sure it will be heating up a lot this year

I've said it before but... ET Streets aren't road-legal in the U.K therefore Specky's car isn't a 10-second road car IMO!
It's still a ballistic car which is way ahead of any fwd ford atm (in terms of times)

The ford boys need to start using comeptitive tyres, but there is far more to it than that, no one has even got close to his 11.3 on 888's time yet either.

If you got the power to do the time you got to run drag slicks
I've been helping Andy Nichols out with his FWD MGZR for years as he lives down the road from me.
Here's a video I took of a 10.2 he did 3 years ago on drag slicks at pod
Car now has new engine with more power, new chasis setup which should see some improvements if the gearbox doesn't break again.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYrDv_Fa7YA
Best I've run in my westy was 11.0 on my first outing with road tyres, pump fuel and mild boost driving it there and back from the strip

As said above fwd fords arnt up there with the other lot, but there hass been a vast improvement in number of 12 sec fords in recent years, which in my opinion is a huge achievement for anyone. 11 seconds will be seen this year due to the focus and commitment of some people and if this continues...who knows... 10 seconds in years to come!!

No disrespect to the FWD guys in this forum but I'll believe it when I see it
I've been into the ford scene for 17 years now and I hear this every year, about how the fords are going to be up there.
I'd love the fords to be up there but unfortunately i dont think its ever going to happen
As well as having a good car with loads of power you need to have at least a couple of years testing experience to iron out all the issues to get good times IMO
Thats why Andy Nichols is up there as he has been doing it longer than anyone i know of in the UK for FWD and he's got the records and trophys to prove it.

He tried to change to many things and ended up going backwards
He had to much power at TOTB with to much lag and not enough traction
New spec of engine spools alot quicker and with careful boost mapping should solve most of those issues on the rubber he has to run
The gearbox is still the weakest link by far though

Then perhaps bring some of this experience our way if you are a true FORD nut!...
The past year has seen a growing trend for FWD improvments in 1/4 mile action.
There are cars with decent power now and putting respectable "FORD FWD" times down so any advice would be warmly welcomed to gain faster times.

After seeing what my gf puma and deans mk2 ran last weekend both running standard suspension, the puma running a base map n deans running a chip meant for my car i think there is a good chance of them both seeing low 12`s for classic ford!
Really looking forward to seeing what times we get with suspension changes etc.

I'm not an expert with FWD by any means but I was getting late 13's over 12 years ago with my own RST with limited knowledge and technology at the time.
Happy to steer people in the right direction from what Andy has tried
PM me
The top 5 most important tips to get a good time IMO would be:
ECU Datalogging (knowledge)
M&H drag tyres with 13" rims running 10psi
NOS
Racefuel
2nd gear launches if the clutch gearing and box will allow

Szabyk is the best man to speak with on this forum about Ford FWD drag racing
He has the fastest FWD ford I have ever heard of with a 10.4sec quarter I think
Its not far off being the fastest FWD in Europe TBH, esp once all the new mods are done
Think he's based in Hungary

you could use an auto box also, you could go on and on.personally i think these guys this weekend have done awesome for road cars with standard suspension etc...lets see the times come down once you sort suspension and brakes. a BIG well done from me and probably everyone else who witnessed it
