Default lowering st24

i have a mondeo st24 estate with the st24 bodykit
i am wanting to lower the car as i sits pretty high.
i am looking on ebay at lowering springs for mondeo estates but what i am wondering is the st24 lower than standered mondeos already?
dont want to buy 40mm lowering springs and realise it was already 40mm lower than standered mondeos if you get what im saying.

so basicly is the st24 estate lwer than standered 2000 mondeos and if so by how much?

You will find with a lot of springs fella they say 'will lower car -40mm, but not ST'. it will still lower the car but not as much they would lower a standard V6.

This is mine with -35mm Spax Springs

aint got a clue mate and to be honest i aint that bothered.
if driven sensibly mine is alot better than my old car.
iv never filled the tank up as i dont do long trips. i use it for work and everyday stuff and fuel seems fine.
fair enough if i flor it alot it does drink fuel but normaly its fine.
my last car did 19mpg driven normaly and this is 3 times better than that and thats all that matters to me.

Fair enough Ming

Dont get me wrong, i do like it and the V6 torque from as little as 1k rpm is great. Sound good too as the previous owner put a nice k&n type filter on it

i no what you mean i put a cone filter on mine saturday and the sound is great.
just sits odd on the suspension and needs lowering badly.
i do find the drivers seat not a nice place to be tho.
im quite a large fella (not fat but broad) and i dont seem to fit in the seat. the bucket style side are to narrow and i find it hard to get cumfy.

Hi,

do a search and you will see pictures of my estate that has been lowered. the trouble with lowering the st24/200 estates is that has self levelling rear suspension and young e to change both shock and the springs!! Another down side is that they are diffent to the hatch/saloon and hence you need to buy a full kit which are very rare to find.

Feel free to ask me any questions you may h e

17's mate, but to be honest, you really need 18's to fill the arches on a MK2.

I have seen kits that lower the front further than the back also, but TBH, with the size and weight of a V6 engine, i wouldnt want it too low at the front. all mondeo's that are lowered the same amount front and back, sit higher at the front though, its because the front arches are bigger than the back. mine is a nightmare lowered 35 at the back, exhaust catches on speed bumps etc, and the rear bumper catches kirbs if i reverse into spaces, which i found out to my cost, as it cracked the ST200 bumper, hence, i always park in forwards now lol. it may not look lowered at the front, but when you compare it to the standard springs, you can see it is, although my front spring was snapped, so it sat a bit lower anyway

Standard

Lowered

As far as tyre ware, i havnt really noticed any, but as said, mines only lowered -35MM

not good with the bumper but it easy enough to do, is it me or do you find parking the thing a nightmare compared to other cars, i mean it's not un-do'able but i find 1: the turning circle is really bad 2: (and its not just cos it's a bigger car cos i'v driven my old mans landcruser without issues even with 8foot trailer) but i find judging it's size when making parking manuvers really difficult

oh and it don't matter about catching my bumpers i have the optional gaffer tape bumpers , i'm going for the new ford rat look

and i no about the arch gap difference some of the old rovers are the same, your front springs where like mine i.e broken so like you say it doesn't look bad, i'll take a piccie in daylight for you as i had to put new springs on the front of mine for mot and it's riding pretty high, i'd say there is a good 3" of arch gap with 17" wheels and a 40 profile tyre

i dropeed my escort 35mm and iirc it did start to scrub the inners a little but tbh i think that was the least of it's problems, i wan't to do this on my mondeo just cos when i have a little play in it i find the boaty motion of standard suspension a little upsetting at higher speeds, i was on the a38 yesterday and going a bit quick when i started to feel the front and back wheels start to hop and squirm around a bend, my arse did eat the seat a little

Aye mate, the old 17's and 40 profile tyres do them no favours at all. when i got mine, it had the ford 16" multispoke wheels on, with HUGE tyres, cant remember the profile, think they were 55 or something. first thing the next morning after i bought it, put the 17's on, 205/40/17, and the arch gap looked massive compared to the 16's with the 55 profiles on. there and then i thought, rite, thats getting lowered, looked outragous. i dont find mine to hard to park tbh, wor lass is unreal though, she wont go through gaps you could fit an artic through.

Mine The day after i bought it, just after id put the 17's on. higher than bob marley in a spaceship

i'm fine with going through gaps it's just judging the curb on the offside when parking i have the problems with , it's not un-commen to hear the bushes brushing the mirrors on the country roads , i have my off side mirror dropped slightly though to help , i have no idea why i suffer in this car so much even when i was working in a body shop with all the cars there i'd say this has to be the worst for me, and it was like car tetris at work

that made me lol, but i can't really do much with the profile on the front as mines a 1.8 and you notice the difference when going up to a 45 profile on the 17's you loose the response and a bit of top end, i had 215/45/17 on there at first but gone back to 215/40/17 and it's got that "little" bit of zippyness back in 2nd and 3rd and i mean only a little
