Changed the stat and housing on my friends 1.25 Fiesta as the housing was cracked.

Have bled the system and as far as I can tell there are no air locks, however, with the expansion cap on the car gets hot and up to the red on the gauge...... but if it's run without the cap on it runs bang on the middle of the normal range.

Is the expansion cap defective?

Could be worth sticking on a new cap just to remove it from the equation. Are you getting any bubbling coming up through the expansion tank when its running with the cap off?

my friends got a mk4 fiesta and his fan doesnt work. Im sure the engine ecu controls the fan.
