Theres a few revisions over the years chaps, buty they ALL say Pectel on them.

Alternatively, Collins boards are compatible with the software so they are another option, but all will be clearly marked

Spiky,

Just my opinion and I will probally get slammed for it as usual but......

If you dont have a chip for the board yet,
why bother with the "hype" of a pectel board when Stu can do a good job without it !!!

Its serves only to perpetuate the myth and grip on the YB tuning market of a
certain well known tuner.

The Pectel monitor requires Pectel serial datastreaming and the software that runs this should be scrambled for security which means you will need a Pectel board to descramble the software.

In Pectel software that is correct Gareth, as there is a software switch to run Weber or Pectel Comms.

Remember that Pectel were a standalone Company that developed some software for the Weber Ecus that was so easy to use back in the day they rightly became the de facto supplier above all other competitors. Think perhaps the difference between Photoshop 7 and Paintshop Pro. Both do teh same thing, just totally different software with different features. It was for this very reason that they correctly had the encryption boards made to stop folks ripping em off with a simple chip copier. The idea was, you can copy my chip if you like, but it wont work without my hardware key so kiss my ass

The key my chips are supplied with does the same thing but is only about 1mm bigger than the chip itself. Times change, things move on.

However.... the L6/L8 weber software doesnt run any water programs and thus for programmed water and Pectel monitoring you need to run Pectel software and thier corresponding protection hardware.

Hope this helps.

Quick Reply: is this a pectel board?????
