Default any astronomers in?

right i know this is prob geeky to most but someone might be able to help.always been fasinated by the sky and staying out in the sticks the stars are brilliant on clear night.looking for a telescope.looking to spend about £400 or a bit more.there are loads to choose from but dont know which to buy.something like this?

personally i prefer sky hd

there really are some good patterns in the sky though, i know nothing about telescopes but that seems pretty good to me

there are basically two types of telescope for astronomy. reflector and refractor. Reflectors use a mirror too collect the light,a refractor uses a lens.
if you buy a reflector it should have a mirror at last 6 inches diameter,or if you fancy a refractor it will need at least a 3 inch diameter lens.
And try to buy one that's got an equitorial mount,that way you wont have to keep adjusting the telescope in two directions.
Bourght my 6 inch reflector of e-bay,for 100 quid,cheap and cheerful ,but had a lot of fun with it.

got mine of ebay too its pretty cool. a seben big boss with eq3 mount, digi camera and motor drive £150.

if you want to get serious get a skywatcher.
