Yes thats right, my pride an joy has blown up.. some of you hate them and some of you love them.. an i'm extremely pissed off. a few weeks ago it started smoking quite a bit, and pushing oil into the air box, then today the oil light started flickering an then the dreaded noise, RATTLE RATTLE RATTLE and sudden death.. but make no mistake, the car will live again.. might be a while but it will live again..
Think its now time for a sacrificial burning of the old engine down the bottom of the garden just to ease my fustration.

Love these cars. My dad had 2, one old shape and one new shape, and if the Mrs would only allow me to have one myself I'd get one in a heart beat

i been working really hard, which is good... the granada is having a new 24v motor in it and going on a manual box. an getting lowered. been discussing it since i put this thread up my friendly passionforders

get a grip pal you where going to swap it anyway, scrap it pal get something retro to put a 24v in if ya like them so much.going to the trouble of manual conversion engine swap = fail and a total waste of money for what you will spend to do it properly you would get a far better car ?????????? or am i missing something wake up pal it's not a dream it is the real world

mmm.. another person that thinks everyone is the same and only likes what he does, its my car and i'll do what i fuckin well like to it, just cus you don't like it doesn't mean it needs to be in a scrap yard. half the people on here spend thousands on there cars an there only worth half what is spent, but they do it out of love for them, people are different mate. and as for this not a dream shit, what the fuck are you on.. if my dream is to have a nice granada cosworth like mine is with a 24v manual in it then it will have it done. I don't care about the cost, its my pride and joy, and the cost will be quite cheap actually, I have a spare 2.0 manual granada sat down a mates, so i have the pedal box and stick, everything, he already has a manual hybrid box for it, and a friend that has done one before has a heap load of bits ie, flywheel an plate to make the box fit an stuff, so stick that in ya fuckin pipe and smoke it.. as many of you on here are aware, if your happy to put shit like that about my car then your liable to get a nasty message returned to you as I don't take kindly to it.. have a nice day..

propa car ,
keep it on the road get it sorted.

In western super mare most weekends aged 17 and hanging the arse out on it on the beach and also round the round about at end of the sea front.

was a 2.9 V6 auto iirc, great fun back then.

Mate If I was in your position I would be properly annoyed. I'm completely with you as well with loving cars a little bit different. Orion's are also a bit of a marmite flavour with people on here and I've got two!

If you like it stick with it and get it rebuilt. By the time i'm done with mine, I will have spent saph money on it, but I get so much enjoyment out of it!

its great to know there is some supporters of the old bus still, I love granada's, i've owned loads, an in my opinion nothing else comes close to them.. the only way the car will ever leave me my friends is when i'm six foot under.

always thought these were strong engines?
but recently seem to be hearing a few stories of them going bang?
personally i love granada 24vs im hoping to put a 24v in my mk1 xr4x4 very soon!

i suppose the older they get the more chance of going bang.. think the oil pump gave up on mine. some have timing chain snap and wreck the engine. to be fair my engine was bad from day one.. i had a 24v years ago an it was miles quicker an quieter than the one I have now.. I bought this one knowing it had a engine problem because it is real nice condition and the right colour.. in truth i was waiting for it to go pop.. these engine's are getting readily available for 150 quid to about 300 quid so its not the end of the world.. still upsetting but an easy change.. good luck with the mk1 mate.. i should like to see some photo's on here of that..
