Just looking at booking a 10 day holidy there...........
There is so many nice looking hotels with differing reviews.......
would rather find out who has been off here and hear what you have to say about the hotels as you get a better idea.....

Its nice, but a little too Americanised for my taste...its like Disney Land I'm probably making it sound worse than it is, but I used to work in Cairo and Luxor for a good while, so Egypt to me is all about the culture and history. You don't need to be into history to enjoy the sites

We've just come back from Makadi Bay, near Hurghada. Was very nice. I can highly recommend the hotel we stayed in. I've written an absolutely EPIC review of it on Tripadvisor, should go live in a couple of days.
Was a fantastic hotel. All Inclusive and with 3 Ala-Carte restaurants you could eat at inside your AI, aswell as 2 standard restaurants.
We've been all over the place in the Red Sea, we've been 5 times. We stayed in the Hyatt Regency in Sharm and it was AMAZING, but that was about 8 years ago now and according to Tripadvisor reviews it's getting a little worn now and could do with a revamp.

Okay, where do I start.
Been going there since 2004.
Stayed at Sonnesta Beach, Sonnesta Club, Novotel, Marriot Beach, Marriot Mountain.
Heading back to the Marriot Mountain in 3 weeks time.
Beware, about 100km of coast now claims to be Sharm-El-Sheikh.
Proper Sharm-El-Sheikh is Naama Bay & Old Sharm.
Sharks Bay, Um Sid, etc are 15-20mins away in a taxi/hotel mini bus.
Best place for food is the Indian Restaurant at the Camel Bar next door to Pasha.
Exchange rate is shite at the moment usual is 10-11 LE to the Ł1, most has been 15 LE but at the moment it is 8LE.
Try and get somewhere on the seafront at Naama Bay or on Peace Road.

I went last year and stayed at The Renaissance - it's the very top end of the scale as it's a 5 star place but was excellent.
If you fancy it, the snorkelling and diving out there is out of this world. Very friendly locals, just a shame about the russian tourists
Plenty of excursions and trips available, I did quad biking in the desert and a night star gazing thing, they were great and not silly money!

This is the problem we've found with the Red Sea, the Russians and Italians. The rudest cunts I have ever met. Pushing into queues, no 'Please' or 'Thank you'. They speak to the hotel staff like they are pieces of shit.
The nice thing about the Hyatt Regency in Sharm is the house reef. It is absolutely MINT. No need to dive, the snorkelling is out of this world.
