Default high torque starter motors

anyone on here use one?

need a new one for my s1 and was thinking that with the smaller battery (that i also need as mine has died) it would be a better option

also lighter which is a bonus

where you get yours from? any to avoid?was looking at either grise, edge or tilton

any other option out there?

hi torque implies it will pull moor current from the battery.. A low comp 1600 doesn't need a lot to spin it. I use any modern style item from say a Focus, they all fit in the std gearbox.

3 bolt Transit Connect starter on mine as I said on Series 1 forum Gus. Works spot on. Being for a diesel it's designed to turn engines over with compressions upwards of 17:1 so it has no issues with a CVH at 7.5:1. And they're cheap.

It's a 3 bolt (they do a 2 bolt) Transit connect starter for a 1.8TD. It's the standard starter and not the -26 cold weather starter.

Around 05 plate will be a good enough age. They're about £160 from Ford for the standard starter but the Ebay one is working fantastic on mine.

Did you not tell him the motor industry including Ford themselves have been doing it for the last 100 years or so?

Fucking prick. I'd have demanded that he sell me the starter otherwise he'd be getting the counter treatment.
