Default Tappets on the cossie needs changing!

Over easter w/end hopefully gonna change the tappets on the cossie, have had them awhile now and need to get them on.

Are there any particular procedures i need to follow when installing them? ive been told to soak them in oil for awhile before fitting is there anything else i need to do before installing them?

any advice would be appreciated

dont think there is mate apart from the soaking in oil, just be carefull with the cam cap bolts as the have a tendency for stripping the threads.

they only do that if you try to wang the caps down, without leaving them a while for the tappets to compress...torque them down over a 30min period giving them a turn or two at a time and they are fine!

Why soak the tappets in oil?

aren't they meant to be fitted empty...and then they pump up once the things running?
therefore no need to take care when torquing down the caps and no danger of stripping them?

or am I wrong (it has been known )

mine still haven't shut up after 500 miles. Soul destroying noise after a complete rebuild to hear it sounding like a sewing machine!

Its actually just 8-10Nm for the smaller M6 ones and 19-23Nm for the larger M8 at the front.

Just stick them in Gaz. Just make sure you use plenty of of oil to lube them up and tighten the cams down evenly and bit by bit and you'll be spot on!
