anyone done any of there own? i have a duratec engine which i am building and well its apart i wanted to give the head a clean up! wanted to take the cast marks out the ports! not so much make them bigger just make them smooth! should the inlet ports be polished? read that the exhaust ones should be to stop carbon build up? any help and pointers would be much appriciated

i done all the port work on my zetec head last year.
polish the exhaust side but not the inlet side .

tip..work on the short side radius.

ive always done my head work last one i did was a 1.9gti, i take it you have reseated all the valves, as crazycage said polish the exhaust ports and make sure ya smooth off the rough bits on the lip of the ports, and for the inlet just give them a good clean

no not re seated the valves yet due to wanting to clean the ports up 1st! what about the valve guides should i leave them be? as they stick up into the port. thanks for replys

just give em a clean as the may have carbon deposits on em
