hi there i have got a 5 door 1994 mk3 festa and swaped the old engine for the rs1800 lump but it will not start i have swaped the ecu as well,my local auto electrician seams to think its the immobilizer how can i get past this hurdle??? please help

 

also the car does have an immobiliser as standard, and i can get the 1.8 to run off of my 1.6 ecu but it doesnt like it .

 

if they both have the same sort of immobiliser (p.at.s) then you might be able to swap the chip out of the rs1800 key into your your 1.6 one and it might work, you might need to also swap the transponder ring from around the ignition barrel for the one form the donor car, im not 100% sure

 

thats the thing i dont have the key because i didnt know what age the ecu was and the guy i bought it off claimed it didnt have an immobiliser

 

there are two types of pats system, internal and external so maybe hes correct and it doesnt, i dont know anything about the year changes on mk3's. It might be worth asking on the forums at fiestaturbo.com if you get no luck here. Have the 4 digit code off the ecu to hand and they should be able to help.

 

can you get hold of the bloke and ask if he can sort you the key and the barrel with the ring attached, or atleast get the chip out the key he has for the car as i think it'll work that way, i can't remember also if the ring just picks up the signal or not so just the chip out of the donor key might work.
