I certainly wouldn't want to be paying out £900 a month just for a car. My mortgage is significantly less than that a month. Depends how much you earn a month I guess though. If you take home 3 or 4 grand a month plus and it's not earmarked for anything else then I suppose it's not as big an issue, but I still wouldn't put myself in that much hock just for a Focus.

well, without going into too much detail about my financial status, the bills we have currently come to around £3k a month, out of which £1300 is childcare for the below nursery age kids
so when junior goes to full time, that's £500 a month saved there at least
and when baby goes to nursery in 18 months time that's another £800 a month we don't have to pay out, effectively giving me £1300 a month to spend on something else, or save, or whatever
but it's all 18 months away, in which time there will be a new focus out, so i may change my mind again then
or i could always part chop the bentley.....

What about saving money - then spending? What has this society become?
But ok, go on if you want and buy everything on credit. The banks will love you...

cause you live for now not later who knows what will happen id rather not spend 5 years saving for a car personally... if you can afford the finance theres no problem
so take a step down from that huge horse your on

Technically you're spending money that you don't have though. What if you become unemployed? What if you suddenly need the money for something else? By signing a finance contract you sell a big part of your freedom. Is a shiny new car really worth that price?

Im sure if your a sensible person you know if you can afford the insurance and if your in secure employment etc IF the worst things happens and you cant afford the payment one month or lose your job then it only needs a phone call to the said company and all can be sorted your not signing you life away...
Im a big beliver of living for now, one of my old bosses was like you he wanted everything to be paid in cash which he did, he had built a nice little company and he wanted a ferrari and holiday home etc which he was saving for instead of getting it on finance or loans, he just about got there from working all the hours senseless and getting the work in then he went to the doctors with a bad elbow one week 8 weeks later he was dead never got the luxury things he really wanted and deserved...
you never know whats round the corner and thats why IMO if you can have it now and pay for it then go for it

dont forget you've got to insure it, tax it and put fuel in it, which you could pribably add a few more 00's to the monthly pay out too at the rate things are going Lol
plus isn't there meant to be a new rs focus comming out soon? wont that have a knock on effect with prices.

firstly i would never get a car on finance; if you insist on having that sort of value car then better off with a personal loan
secondly; if you can afford it Dojj then the decision is yours, but you started the thread with a question. Is it worth it? NO!
personally i would never get in debt to the tune of 30k for a car

Regardless of whether you can afford the £900 per month payments, you also need to consider whether you can save up an additional £10,000 (whilst already paying £900 out of your monthly income) for that final payment at the end of 2 years.
If it was me and i decided to go for it i would take out an insurance policy against illness & redundancy as the last couple of years have shown us that there is virtually no such thing as secure employment (unless you are an undertaker lol).

well, it was a fail on my part as they won't do it bceause it's going to cost too much (and they didn't list it on the company car scheme either )
can't find the pic of the e class though that might have been available, although currently i am able to get a kia c'eed for free
