Default How do you bypass SCMS on PS2?

SCMS - Serial Copy Managment System

Sony, and many others, programme it into audio and visual machines that use digital/optical IN and OUT inputs, so that you can 't make crystal clear digital.optical copies.

If I try to copy the audio off a DVD using an optical cable to my minidisc recorder it tells me "CAN'T COPY" which is fine, but I have just hooked my PS2 up to hte HiFi using an optical cable - since the PS2 has an optical out for this very reason.

Whilst it plays CD's fine, it won't play DVD's though the hifi - it injects a loud noise over the thop of the audio Picture is fine, just the sound coming out the hifi speakers is completely ruined

If I use the phono out from TV into hifi it is fine, just not as clear a quality as using the digital/optical cable. I do have one DVD however it will work with, but again won't let me copy from it.

What I want to know is can I bypass this sound injection so that I can just watch a DVD and have the sound come out my hifi using the optical cable....

Any ideas peeps?

I can see your problem

You have not put power cables to the TV, PlayStation or Hi-Fi

Cheers for the link, but didn't really wanna spend a lot of money on a control box... I was hoping there might be a setting or something that can be changed to allow ausio to be passed through an amp to speakers.....

Thanks anyway tho
