Default grooves on disc direction

ive seen people running them both ways,spoke to ap and they say there isnt a wrong direction,they both work better in diffrent ways

what direction do you lot run?

Unless your question is entirely regarding solid discs and not vented:

Groove direction is indeed irrelevant, vane direction however is not; the vanes on the inside of the disc should be swept backward.

Whilst whoever at AP told you that "there isnt a wrong groove direction" is technically correct, they should be given damn better advice to people than that.

Does not matter what way the grooves go, it is the vane direction of the vented disc that makes the difference.

If you look at this link (from AP's own website), you'll see what I mean by the direction of the vanes inside the disc.

The only time is doesn't apply to ventilated discs/rotors is when they have radial/straight vanes.

As I say, whoever advised you from AP is a little on the dim side for not mentioning this.
