what you need to do, is when you get in the car, start it up, rev the fook out of it ram it in to 1st gear and dump the clutch, wheel spin down the road asking the tutor to point out any details you may have missed?!

Hard to teach someone how to drive over an internet forum, but my advice would be to just relax and try to listen and take in as much as possible as the instructor tells you.

Don't worry if you stall it a few times, kangarooing etc, we've all been there, and all done it, so don't feel too disheartened if you're not as good as you expected to be after a few lessons, it takes time and patience.

Good luck though, enjoy it.

I've taught a few people to drive and I always tell them the same thing:

Master your cluch control and don't panic.

I've got the people to just start going back and forth on an industrial estate and once they don't worry about stalling anymore, they pick up the rest of it fairly quickly.

Might not work woth everyone but it's worked for them. And remember that other road users appreciate you are a learner so don't worry if you fuck something up - just take a deep breath and try again.

FocusV8 was bang on too - listen!

All the best with the lessons.

very good advice, I still can't legally drive, but when I was an apprentice mechanic my boss just had my driving up and down the short run into the garage.

My mrs paid £45.00 for 2 hours. Learning how to pass your test is fine mate, its when you get your licence you really start learning. Good luck but dont do what everyone where i live does and drive like a complete twat everywhere and genrally drive way to fast for there capabilities.
Good luck with the lessons though
