you cant beat a t4 at 2.2 bar 7800 rpm
my old yb was just polished ports standard size with a pair of 14s and held 2.2 bar without surge from 5300 rpm onwards. 408 hp atw.
my egts at the downpipe were up to 1000c 160 mph + on a defi gauge which i am told makes the manifold around 1200 c
engine and turbo never battered an eyelid though for 5k hard miles.
they are definateley a seriously robust turbo, dont worry about the lag thats what gearboxes are for

What sort of response would you expect from this sort of spec:
200 Block
Standard pistons and rods
Lightly ported head
T4 RB
Greys

greys with a t4 is pointless
if you only want 400 ish bhp, you have chosen the wrong turbo imo,
there is no point in having a t4 and living with the bad points for any less 500bhp
if your going to use a t4 you need to build a t4 spec engine to make the most of it, otherwise you will be dissapointed with the whole car, and cry when a t34 car pisses past you lol

I haven't chosen anything yet.
What are the bad points? I think a bit of lag would be alot of fun with RWD?

quite the opposite mate; if you want a t4, then you need to be aiming for over 500hp with a nice 42psi boost spike

exactly, t4 is for 500bhp otherwise choose a smaller turbo.
they seem great on paper, but they are hard work to live with.
choosing injectors that cant out flow your turbo is a bad idea imo, the t4 will want to make heaps of boost top end, boost control can be an issue for them in some cases, i would run one on 83lbs, and let it run flat out and fuel it all the way
just like wennys mk3 was

GT3071R, will see a nice 460hp without the lag of a t4, you will need a little headwork too

i'm pretty sure they do an internally gated gt3071r, so even easier
you'll need a live map tho IMO to get the best out of it
