Citroen Saxo rear lowing? Anyone done one?
A guy at work has asked if I can lower his Saxo for him. Having never deal with rear torsion bars. Anybody got any advice on how to do it? I've heard it's a proper Pain In The Arse.
Any advice/help would be appreciated.

Get a fooking large hammer!
I did my 205, with supervision, if you have a good ramp or pit to work with it makes it alot easier, its not actually that bad to do, just make sure you measure the height of the stub pin with it jacked up before you remove them, otherwise that can get confusing.
Undo all the bolt, and then it literally is a case of brute force to get the arms off, mine did take a good few clacks with a big sledge hammer.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Done a couple, never had much luck hammering or slide hammering so 'pulled' the torsion bars out.
Bit of M8 (IIRC) stud or long bolt, couple of washers, large socket, nuts.
Put socket against the housing and over the torsion bar, wind a nut on the stud/bolt, put the bolt/stud through the washers then through the socket and wind it in to the end of the torsion bar.
Get it all the way in then tighten the nut up against the washers/socket and it should pull out.

even on a car 3 or 4 years old the road dirt gets in them and cakes them solid!
tried the pulling out method with gas aswell on a 4 year old 206 thats had been well looked after by previous owner and it wouldnt budge on the lower bar.
in the end had to make a big plate for a slide hammer with bearing puller on and a high tensile bolt through the plate and have a bar on the other end and as the slide hammer was shocking the one side a person hitting the bar with a big hammer to shock the other to free it!
you can take the ends off but if you can get the bards out then its better as it doesnt disturb the bearings.
