my parents recently bought a restaurant so to hopefully increase sales i'm about to launch them a website.

anybody know how to get the website nearest the top of google search? keywords or anything?

 

Thats like the holy grail! LOL. There are loads of facets to SEO. I know a few, but at the end of the day, you'll need to spend money with Google to really get up there, especially in a competitive industry like that!!

 

the cheapest i find is google adwords, find some keywords, put it at 80p or whatever a click to get on page one, its pay per go so load it with 30 quid and wait, it costs me 20 or 30 a month it does retun well ish, atleast if someone searches for resrturant in your area you should be seen

you can see what clicks you have had per day and set a daily limit i set mine at 3.00

 

You pay Google.

It's an art mate.

You will get countless people tell you that, for a fee, they will get you there - but be very careful...

Find someone who can show you actual results they have achieved, and try and verify it.

It is indeed possible to correctly optimise a website yourself to get to page one of Google quite easily, in fact I am quite good at it even if I do say so myslelf, its not an exact science but you need a deep understanding of its algorithm and if you dont have time to devote to it you may as well pay a specialist to do it for you.

That said, I still pay google Ł5000 a month on average as my organic hits simply are not enough for my industry.
