Track car for 1k
what is there.
I have a grand that I have made from breaking a car that I was going to use on track.
I would only do 2-3tops a day so cant warrent putting more money into it
what is there available for £1k.
I used a mates mk3 fiesta last year with coilovers and 2ltr zetec which was a blast and he only paid about that for it. but he sold it.

a feista is a good option i reckon with the 2litre like you said.
I think the civic above is not a bad option but there a little heavy, maybe find the older smaller model with the vti 1.6(160bhp) lump in it, altough they do seem to still fetch quite strong money.

i got a subaru legacy turbo for £450, needed a centre diff which was £20, brakes £200, a td05 turbo £150 and a chip £100.
never got it rolling roaded but i reckoned a good 200 hp. only problem was it kept hitting the fuel cut coz of too much boost. had to shove a brake pipe in the intercooler hose to leak boost.
hilarious lift off oversteering a burgundy barge!
was running 9 psi in this vid, but we had 17 psi on a different track day!

clio 16v, 1800 16v 137 bhp, very very good fun and will make mince meat of thinks like saxos etyc on the track, a rusty clio williams could be in reach at that price , 2.0 150 bhp etc, bot awesome track carsm chip has a good one. I have seen a few standard ones tearing around the tracks and for what they cost imo you wont find better. they have there known faults buy usually easy quick fixes

why though? it's a VERY capable car, even pretty much std?
parts cheap
i'd have one over a clio.
obviuosly i have got the 205, but i wanted something as light as possible
but my car is far from std, and definatly wont come into the 2k price bracket
so your "TRIS" from gti6 forum?

I've just got myself a classic shape Impreza Wrx for 1500 and stripped the interior out of it. If you don't mess about with it to much it should be a cheapish reliable car for occasional trackdays.

I bought this back last spring for the princely sum of £550 with 6 months tax and a few months MOT off AlexF who posts on here (bought via eBay though).
It's running a 1.9 bottom end, sorted head, fast road cam, koni top adjustable, poly bushed, R888's and a very loud exhaust (although it passes sound limits). So far I've done Combe a few times and Silverstone once and I'm proper addicted to trackdays. So much so I sold my Corrado and bought a Polo TDI so I could have mor espare money for trackdays.
Whatever you get you're best off keeping a bit of money back for good suspension, poly bushes, tyres and Instruction on the day. It's no good having tons of power if all you're going to do is waste it with loss of traction.
Good luck with your search and maybe bump into you one day at a track.

I have a very small budget to run mine on so I'd rather spend my spare £££'s on actual trackdays then some infinitely adjustable top mounts for the front struts. Since those pics I have fitted a bucket and harnesses are going in shortly, I'll also hopefully be getting a cage for stiffness and safety later this year. Other than that it'll just be replacing wear and tear items and getting out there and using it.

Ha ha hello mate! I sure am. In fact I severly upset a 106 GTI driver on the way back from the No-Rice meet on wednesday night.
I see your down for June at Combe, lets hope there's not quite so much rain this year!

Indeed I know a couple of folks who've gone a bit crazy with the mods for a track car. It's not like you're racing so there's no real need to chase every 10th of a second on a lap. It's all about having fun and exploring the limits of the car and yourself as a driver. I've been driving for 17 years and I'm surprised how much more trackdays have taught me about car control and keeping an eye on your mirrors when just driving the daily comute.

if you stack it, as gutted as you might be it not going to be the end of the world. mk2 golfs for example are easy to pick up cheap

If you put the heaters on the windscreen you'd be able to see where your going
