Hey guys, I've just been through ALL my emails and deleted pretty much all the useless shit.
I have now synced my iPhone up to my Hotmail account, and the inbox messages are all showing as "unread", even though when I access them through the PC, I have no new emails. Now.. I have 1100ish emails that I have kept, and i'm not really looking forward to having to "read" them ALL using my phone!![Wall](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/wall.gif)

Has anyone worked out if there is a way to "read all"?![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
Help is GREATLY appreciated!![Top](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/smile011.gif)

Cos it doesn't work properly like that.... best thing to do is to open up hotmail via search on the iphone and then add a bookmark to the iphone which then goes on like an app. So all you have to do then is click on it and you're straight into hotmail and you can delete stuff and it won't show as unread.

Its an easy mistake..... I did it too..... and my mate's reaction was "Oh no".....
Its good cos you can do it for most sites that don't have their own app, like PF.

You can only use Hotmail with your iPhone "Mail" app, via POP3, which isn't a true sync service for email. All it does is allow a copy of mail to be sent to a remote mail client. As such, there isn't two way sync - so even tho you mark mail as read in Hotmail on your computer via a web browser, the iPhone mail client won't be told that. Likewise, when you send an email using your iPhone, that won't show up in your Sent folder when using a web browser.
TBH, you're best off ditching Hotmail - it's old tech now, and not very user friendly IMO. Get yourself a Gmail account and use that instead. It's SO much more advanced and user friendly, and makes email so much easier to manage. Plus, the iPhone works nearly flawlessly with Google services, and you can set up gmail on the iPhone via either IMAP (which works brilliantly) or via Exchange, which works almost aswel, but also allows push notification for gmail (which IMAP doesn't)

You can't take the battery out of an iPhone.
Plug it into iTunes, do a full software restore and it should be okay. Unless it's 1) a hardware fault (ie, phones is physically broken inside) or 2) you've unlocked it using redsn0w or similar, and updated it and it's relocked again
