Friend of mine asking me to post this up to see if any of you have some ideas.
My mates sister has a bog standard Focus ST, but its developed a high pitch whine from the box bell housing. Its consistent no matter what, but only when its hot. No sound at all before the engine warms up. The thrust bearing was completely shagged but replaced, the clutch has no signs of excessive wear and the starter motor was removed while running. But none seem to be the cause for the noise.
I thought perhaps flywheel related?
Any ideas guys?
Cheers!

The olny high pitched noise I have heard about on the ST is the split diaphram but that doesn't come from the bellhousing
No idea what it could be but it sounds interesting. Did it start before the release bearing was replaced?

Yup, thought that was the cause to be honest. But that was replaced by a new genuine item and as explained above, there's not much else around that area that can cause the sound from what we can see. Its been doing it for the past month now, thought it was a strange one
