Cheers lads!
AJ - Cheers, loving it at the minute! The car used to have a private reg on it saying 'evo' in it but recently taken off.
Plans are to lower it, 18x8.5s, paddle clutch, then power. Thinking 272 cams, GT30 or similar, forged bottom end etc...

Nice car Si
7's had the smallest tank capacity - 49 litres.
My 8 managed 29 mpg tonight, general A Road driving, doing near on 200 miles this evening. Plus when I need it I have 500 bhp to deploy too. They're not as bad as people make out, same sort of guzzling as a Cossie or Scoob would be for the same use. mid to late 20s on a run, 15-20s on a blast, and in my car approx 6 mpg on the track. 70 miles or so and it's empty on track
My car also has the same shite steering lock, that is as bad as my old Saph 4*4 - it takes me the same number of shunts to get into my drive when the neighbour parks in his usual dead opposite the drive spot
Cool cars though, and getting so affordable. Lot of go for the £

Cheers Si, useful info. Yes it certainly is a lot of bang for your bucks. Was going to ask your advice (if you don't mind) as your the resident evo guru. Firstly, is it worth joining the mlr? Whats best to lower it? Don't really fancy as the ride is harsh?cheers

Deffo worth joining the MLR, discounts on some of the things like exhausts / brakes / suspension etc will see you get your money back in no time.
Main thing for me with membership, is without it, you can't read Parts for Sale adverts for the first 3 days they go up. Meaning you miss all the bargains / good bits / bits you and everyone else needs.
I live on there, and loads of my parts for both Evos came from there. I've saved a fortune by getting in quick on items that are as new but half the price etc.
Cheaper trackday and sprint prices too.
Regarding lowering it - I had some Tein S- Tech springs, approx 40-50mm drop. Black Evo looked spot on with them on, and the drive was still quite comfy. Coilovers tend to ruin the "niceness" of the drive, but do improve the handling more, plus obv you can set whatever ride heights suit you. They do drive better with the back end up in the air, not too low at the rear basically.
Best suspension for cheap and for comfy fast road use is the stuff that came on the 8 and 9 MR models - Bilstein dampers and matched springs. Supposed to ride lovely.
One thing I will say is my brother removed his Billys to go for decent coilovers, and his lap times at Castle Combe dropped 2 seconds straight away. Perhaps Billys aren't best for handling. Depends what you want out of it and how much you have to spend.
Decent set of wheels, remap and enjoy, oh and maybe detango the lights, and poss paint them black, nice cheap mod that makes a huge difference
I see you mentioned forged GT30 - that would deffo get my vote, they deal with 400-500 bhp very easily.

nice new car there i'd love to own one in the near future. about the fuel consumption though, i was out in my mates corsa the other night with my other pal as well just upto no good really. well he was driving it like he stole it, or even worse if you can actually do that, and he only got 37 mile out of twenty pounds worth of fuel. is this normal driving it so hard or is there something wrong?
good luck with modding the evo, i think you should prioritise a bigger fuel cell if your going to up the power
sorry forgot to mention its an 04 corsa 1.4 with around 68k on the clock
