If it's a 2wd then xr4i discs/calipers at 260mm will fit, IF the wheels are large enough(14" minimum), if you have 15" or more cossie 2wd calipers and discs are a straight fit, all you need to do is to tap a thread into the hole of the hub where the existing brak bolt passes through, it is already the right size for tapping out to 12 x1.5 I think it is, will need to measure, I did this on my mk1 2.0gl, this gives a massive gain, add to that drilled/grooved discs and some nice redstuff pads with braided lines, you'll be amazed at the difference, you could just do the bits as you have the money, ie just use any cheapo pad to start with ect std discs std brake lines, even the cheapo std ebc pads have kevlar and are excellent.

there isnt a any room with escos wheels, pretty sure you're limited to standard calipers

any 2wd rear end will fit so just find one with brakes on

id go for a cossie one personally as that might have bigger antiroll bars and bigger brakes!?

EDIT: just read your bit about the diff, the cossie one will have a viscous diff, better than the standard open diff

the simplest things first

ANY mk3 mondeo will donate it's front calipers
matched to some st170 mk1 focus discs
you just have to open up the brake holes to an M12

you "should" just be able to get them to fit under a set of 15's if you shave a fraction off the calipers

You don't need to change the master cylinder, I never did, and tbh after fitting the braided lines at the same time there was less pedal travel than the previous set up with std hoses./discs/calipers.
If fitting rear discs be sure to swap over the proportioning valve with it.
