Default Fiesta Mk3 Steering.

Right, I have sorted the binding brake but now I'm faced with "super light" steering.

The steering on my car has gone really light and it is not a PAS version. When cornering if feels kind of unsafe and you don't have a good "feel" through the wheel.

I recently got it MOTed and it failed due to a torn steering rack gaiter, so I have changed it. The rack its self looks new and was put on a few months before I bought it in April, I think it might of been a reconditioned one.

I'm sure the tyres aren't overinflated, so what could be causing it?

Thanks in advance.

Mine is still heavy to park, it's just when it's moving.
Yes it has been lowered and was tracked when I had two new tyres on the front about 2/3 weeks ago. The tyres are the same dimensions as the ones before.

I did notice the car was being tracked to a later model (1997) but I don't think thats made much of a difference.

The back is lower than the front (because the lights were too high) so could the back suspension have sunk and is holding more weight off the front end?

as long as your rack operates there no real way for it to make steering lighter as you said its lowered im 100% your camber will be out you can adjust this but it aint cheap area six do new lower arms to correct it but for the basic arms with just the camber adjustment its £120 and if your really serious about handling they do a replacment arm with spherical bearing instead of a bushes this also stops ant front end twist and helps eliminate tourque steer check out there website

Has it had a set of lower arms at all. There are about 3 different sets of arms as I found out when a parts place supplied me with 2 different sets of arms that didn't work and gave very bizarre steering feel only to find out the arms were of a third type

The car was lowered by 2 loops rear and 1 and a half front, so it's had no other parts on it, except two new shocks on the rear cause they were knackerd.
Also it is a recent problem and the car has been lowered since about May.
