RS200 replica in the FOR SALE section here...
hope this isn't a repost....
and i am not plugging this for someone else.
but it didn't take long to re-appear for sale with the new owner....
i thought he only bought it yesterday? shame no one got to buy it that actually wanted it rather than to just to make a profit, especially after all the arguments on here about it in the thread
now listed on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BANHAM-RS200-R...#ht_1122wt_960
of course i might be wrong!

Banham used the maestro as it was near identical dimensions, wheelbase etc as a rs200, they cut the body down and then fitted a welded steel frame and rs200 body panels for which they have the original moulds. This car has had the banham steel framework modified to fit onto a celica and rs200 body panels fitted so nowhere near as bad as the fwd banham!

shows how it was done
http://web.ukonline.co.uk/r.humphris/kitcar.html
i had the very first banham built rs200 used as his demo car.
what a shocking car
the welds between the so called rollcage i pulled apart with my hands.
so this is what happened to it
it was removed to use as a mold for the mill auto conversions scooby bodys.
the above car i watched being built and it has the wrong way opening bonnet (which was extended) iirc the car is 300mm longer than original car

What i dont get is why someone hasnt use the banham/ford moulds to make a dimensionally accurate replica.
The RS automotive/kara one was lengthened in the middle to please ford and copyright shite. Obviously thats not a problem these days as banham got away with it. Why cant they shorten the chassis and have an authentic bodied replica thats also mid engined. I just think the front engined ones are just not right!!

He wasnt having a go, he was just saying that being a trader is fine, and thats all this bloke is basically doing if he is buying something then selling it on at a profit.
Thats how it reads to me anyway, you seem to be paranoid!

The only reason people got so stroppy on that thread is cos a: they couldn't afford the £2500 to make a quick buck, b: they were trying and failing to buy it for a quick buck.
It must have been very upsetting for the people who were wanting to buy it to make loads of easy money to see someone else doing just that now

Hi everyone
I bought the car, I can't believe how many arguments it's caused. I gave up on it as I tried and tried to buy it but ended up thinking it was a scam as nobody could get their hands on it.
I knew it was cheap and knew I would make a quick £500 which I could do with at the moment. To my surprise I was offered it by the owner and did the 14 hour driving trip ( towing).
It really isn't that bad, it needs tlc and I have given an exact description.
I'm not out to offend anybody, I just took a chance and I hope it pays off. It was a bloody long way! Cost £150 on diesel.
Cheers

People can and will say what they want about the car but if you think of the hours the guy must have spent building it, it's easy worth £2500 that's why it caused so many arguments. It is based on a Toyota not Maestro and it is quite cleverly done. I had the Rs automotive and it took me a year to build. The thread is on her under my rs200 evo. I had to sva it, register it etc. It's a nightmare! This one is sva'd and road registered! It may need cosmetic work but the engine is sweet, gearbox too, and it's 4wd and supposedly 270bhp.
It may look horrible to some people, but on the way home there were endless people taking pics of it, it got quite embarrasing.
It's on the button and I've cleaned it up a bit now, done some blacking on it, it could be a real good car if some time was spent on it.
As I said, £2500 was a bargain but still a chance I took. Also with all the Messers you get on eBay, it may not even sell so I'm not counting my chickens just yet
