Had a redtop corsa as a daily, built cheaply but right, with new bushes, brakelines, clutch etc. Did 15000 faultless miles of sheer abuse and was sold on at a profit.
IMO theyre really good cars. Obviously not as well engineered as a clio 182, nor does it have the handling of an impreza but the straight line pace is in that ballpark.

first one was poorly built n shit.
Second one is almost done, hopefully will be better.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
had a few 16valve corsas and a LET one. redtops took some hammering day in day out with no issues. just make sure you have decent brakes and suspension cause they handle shit if not set up half decent!
LET one was fun and very quick but i must say i prefered the good oldcoscast XE engine i had in it before the turbo engine. constant abuse and loved it.

a few of my mates have had/built them, red top and turbo's, and although they where cracking fun, i always though they felt horrible, verging on unsafe most of the time, especially nova's!
I think thats just because id ont like the feel of them whatever engine they have in them though.

had a few an built a few too last one being a turbo cheap power but a na valver are overated imo turbo ftw win if u spend money on a gearbox to get the power down

I broke a calibra red top last year with the intention of doing this conversion, never got round to it and in the end sold the engine for next to nothing
looking at these pics i wish i'd just got on with it
My daily driver for the last 5 years has been a red top calibra, got to be one of the best 4 cylinder engines ever made imo
Had a 16V Cav SRI before the calibra and that was also great fun but sadly got nicked and smashed up! shame as it was a minter

if you do the job right it will be as reliable as any daily. I used to get 40 on a motorway run, 35 avg on mixed motorway/town/ quick A roads and sub 30if I abused it.
