Default Current Fords no good?

Good evening all!

I have just been reading through a few posts and a couple of people have said that they thought the current Fords are rubbish!!
Is this the general way of thinking on Passionford?

Obviously over the years past, Ford has made some brilliant sporty cars, and perhaps out of the current line-up the RS, ST and perhaps the Zetec S Fiesta are the only sporty models, but, i have always had Fords apart from a couple of cars in the 15 years i have been driving, and i now have a 2005 1.4 Ghia Fiesta and i have driven many different cars from other makers out there, but nothing seems to handle and drive as well as a Ford - even my 1.4 Fezzie!!
Other cars seem dull and numb in comparison.

What do you all think??

i think people like the st as a daily runner which it can easily be...

There also plent of people that like the new RS, me included.

old skools who like box shaped cars and rwd will obviously hate them though, depends on what you want from a car.

i think they are awsome daily drivers, but have ugly dash boards imo and i see them as daily drive projects not full on strip down rebuild type cars like i would want from a car.

As i previously said, ive practically always had Fords. My parents have always had Fords, and weve never had any problems with them (touch wood!). Being a petrolhead, id always fancied an Alfa. Now, in November i bought a 2005 156 2.0 in Alfa Red. It looked gorgeous and in only owning in for 24 hours, i had 9 or 10 people come up to me and comment on how stunning it was.
I had it for 6 days and i took it back and i got my Fezzie back! I know loads of people are going to think i am mad but, there were a few things i didnt like with the Alfa and i just hankered after my trusty Ford!

With regards to current Fords, they are great everyday cars, but im sure you could do little tweeks to them like changing the wheels, suspension etc etc to make them stand out!?

Makes you wonder what Fords will crop up in Fast Ford magazine in the next few years!?

Better they've been for a long time IMO. A proper, well thought out RS for once, the watered down every day ST which is more than adequate for everything you can chuck at it, a bloody good looking fiesta for once, only thing they need to warm up a bit is the mondeo!

While I admire your commitment to the Blue Oval, it's not until you drive or try something else that you realise Ford cars in general aren't all that. Some are good of course, new FRS especially. However, there are a lot of other great cars from all the other Marques as well.

I'd love Ford to do something as radical as the EsCos or early 3 doors were at the time of launch.

An FRS "RS400" with 400+ bhp, 4x4 and even more mad styling whilst still at a Ford owner's price would be just the ticket.

For now, compared to some of the hey day cars, a lot of them are just average or ok

Don't think they've got the character of the earlier Fords but hey who knows, maybe we will look back in 20 - 25 years time with the same fondness for todays cars that we currently have for the old skool Fords.
Much as i like the new RS Focus, why do we need a Volvo engine to power it?

I do think there a lot tamer than they used to be, but their modern and with the times. I remember when i first saw the mk1 focus i thought god that's ugly... but a year or so on it blended in perfectly and looked modern but not space shippy like other cars.
I think a new shape fiesta rs would be cool. I heard there;s a fiesta st in the pipelne too.
