Just found a 500!!
Was asked to go look at an "old" car to detail as it had been sitting in a garage for quite a long time. got there was led to a garage under the house and in a dim dark corner was a sierra. got closer and saw it was a Cossie got up beside it and low and behold it was a mint RS500 on D40's sitting on stands!!!
... its been there for 15 years since the owner died and his wife just kept it but wants to give it to their grandson who is turning 21!!! absolutely mint and no they wont part with it!!! I tried several times!!!

once finished will do a few pics was only looking at it today to price the job so no camera even left my phone in the car!! truth it was never lost just kept as that is how it was when the owner died the grand son has looked after it since he was a wee boy starting it and making sure it does not go to rust be waxoiling the whole car so thats what needs removed then a good bit of TLC and a fresen up inside. beautiful motor!!

Jeezo, I wish I had a rich granny let alone one with a tucked up 500....how jealous????
calipers probably could do with being removed, free'd off and the discs replaced or at least skimmed/buffed with a flappy disc on a grinder to get rid of the surface rust, once working they will clean up fine.
crank the thing over to get oil pressure up before starting it, maybe chuck a splodge down each bore before moving also.

Nah he'll intent to keep it mint and will cherish it...until it comes on boost and he realises it's faster than his mates corsa....then forget its RWD and the rest is 'cosworth' history.

the car was bought new by the owner 25k on the clock. I remember it when I was a kid and it was amazing then as it was the only cossie any of us had ever seen. going to bring a mechanic friend up when we are doing it to give her the once over its normally turned over every 3 months but has not been started in a while as hr guy is at uni. jsut need to get a date sorted and get her drtailed only prob is the lady does not want to let it out of her sight.. dont blame her I would have trouble bringing it back! they guy is a ford nut so alls is ok he will love this more so because it was his granddads so this one will be one of the lucky ones. he has a 2001 uk scoobie and hasnt killed it. It gets pampered and driven very carefully. now his quad thats another story.

My dad had a mk2 granada 2.8 ghia X parked up on the drive (years ago, mind) that he said would be mine if i wanted it when i learned to drive. He ended up scrapping it when i was 15 - d'oh! Not a patch on a 500 though.....
