Default London Steak Restaurants.....

We are having a night out in London early Feb and the Argentine restaurant we wanted to eat at seems to be fully booked already. Can anyone make any suggestions where we could try for a proper decent meal? I'm not talking stupidly expensive, normal persons budget.

Ideas?

Has to be Gaucho really for reasonable money.

I go at least once a month and really enjoy it there.

The Tower Hill restaurant has a good atmosphere and is located nicely for a walk along the river afterwards etc...

You need to add 50% to be classes as a normal person in London...

So think being ripped off elsewhere

gaucho is good but black and blue is also good... borough market and there's one in the west end too. Not as pricy as gaucho either, but doesn't have hot argentinian waitresses though

Maria you Poof, a steak must be rare!!!!!

I am steak pervert and the best I have had was in SA, it worked out to be about £15 thinking about it, but that was the most expensive steak in one of the best restrants.

remember £15 thouse days was about 90 rand, melt in the mouth stuff GOD it was good.

theres one just below covent garden just above the strand, I cant remeber what its called but i walked past it the other day and looked good. Had some real good steaks that most places dont sell.

there was a lot of marbelling talk etc etc, one was a porterhouse i think and it was £35 quid...

I said to myself i would go there soon, I think that could have been the argentinian one, It looked new.

Went to goodman (maddox street) before christmas and had the most amazing porterhouse, they sit you down and bring a board round with all the cuts of meat on it and talk you through all about who wiped the cows arse and what its mates were called etc. really enjoyed it, steak was just to die for. Never eaten at gauchos but they do look shit hot too

Yes, thats the one. We've been trying for over a week now to book a table. They just don't answer their phone.

I think they are fully booked well into Feb to be honest.

I've just tried some hypothetical dates in their online booking system, looks like they are booked until about 20th Feb.

Looks like Gaucho's it will be then.

Hawksmoor. Walking distance from Liverpool Street.

Great steak but not cheap.

Last time i was there my brother had a 1.4lb porter house that cost £84. It was Huuuuge.

My brother in law holds the record though. He ordered a 1.1lb fillet and it cost £114!!

Their pork ribs are great for a starter.

If you don't go made you can dine for £50-60 per head not including drinks.

I done exactly the same thing. Took customers there just before Christmas and it was superb. As said they bring the steaks round to you, explain what the cows have been fed on etc etc. Nice atmosphere and great food, I would highly recommend it.

Goodmans or Gaucho

if you go Gaucho... have a sampler board and try all the different cuts and compare.

Is it a weekend or a weekday?

By the way neither are exactly cheapest by the way. I've been millions of times to Gaucho as its literally 20 secs from the office.... You will easily do £100 per person. Me and Maria had quick meal before Pink concert few weeks back and that was £220.... with just one bottle of cantina malbec and few other drinks because we were in a rush!
