Evening all
Yesterday I pop into a local bodyshop that I had been told about. Went in and ask bout someone cheeking my car after bump.
Any I was call to day by there body man, asking when could he see the car, I asked for friday afternoon, as I finish earlier, but he was busy I tried to see if he'd look after work today but it was agreed it would be too dark, so he asked if he could have a look on his way home for lunch, I said yes not thinking, and getting excited that some one very local has the tools for the job and willing to do so. Telling him that there would be no one there and that the car was locked up on the drive.
So I pop in after work on my home to talk to him, He tell me that there is a dent in the roof mean the A pillar had moved and was a thumb sided gap at the top of the pass door.
So when I got home I had a lil look and could see this gap plain as day, and kept thinking to myself how could I have missed that, as I had picked up on quite a few shut gaps that weren't right and looking more, I could see the rudder down the pillar was white with polish and that stood out pretty dam well to. So I unlock the car and look on the inside, now i can see a thin scrap make down the edge of the door, looking quiet fresh but with tiny rust dust, looking like it had fallen there. Now If this chap has wedged it open a lil bit to make more damage to get the work, where do I stand and how could I prove it, and what could be done?

need pics but imo the roof has been pushed up by the pillar,not the guy prising the door down(if you see a gap).

bar setting up an off roading jack in the door space i dont think the guy would go to that extent for more work when it sounds like he has enough!

That's what I thought it's just the scrape mark down the inside the door doesn't look like something could happen in the bump, but it could well have happened in the bump, but I can't be sure. See a lad on my way to work this morning who's into his ford and told me not to have anything to do with this body shop, as he is know for ripping people off.

Basically, as AJ says, unless you have proof, ie. a witness or cctv footage I don't think you have a leg to stand on. Would'nt bending that out of shape make it uneconomical to repair, thus cocking up any chances of him getting the job anyway?

well I wasn't a 100% it need jig/ pulling straighting, so if I didn't need working on then yes it would work out for him to do something to get work.
Well it should be sorted now, iv manage to convince mate to drive over 200 miles to come look at it on sat, he's a very good body person and he thinks he'll be able to tell if other matey did damage it.

jesus keyboard warriors at the ready. I had no trouble reading it and i am on a pda. I met munkeyboy at the weekend and he is sound. And btw i went to school got decent grades yet i use spell checks and cant write due to poor hand writing so he dont need school as it did fuck all for me.

Bascially i think you cant prove it so you should just take it on the chin as a bad experience, and find someone whos decent and wont mess you about, you might have to pay for it but if it means you will get the work done properly..........

Well said but, I left school with. Mostly As, maths, science d&t, few other less import subjects, but got a F for english and still when on to do the hardest Alevels maths and science, and had some fucking well payed jobs!

Why would the bodyshop dude damage it in the first place? To get more work isn't really viable imo, if he wanted to rip you off he'd just charge you extra and/or do a sub standard job if you awarded him the works.

I just don't think he'd damage your car before you said you are or are not getting the works???

think this one is a lesson learnt dude,just dont tell anyone where your car is next time,could of been ten times worse dude
