Default How thin is your head???????????? (cosworth)

Seen allot off differnt comments about the skimming of cosowrth heads on here

people saying 138.68 (i think) is the "safe" limit but people are still useing them thinnner/less thicker without problems?

So heres what i wanna know:

How thin is your cosworth head & have u had any problems??????

138.68 is the figure mentioned in the Ford manual as the min rec thickness, I have used them at less than that and never had a problem (make sure pistons are machined to get comp ratio right though).

You can use them thinner as long as the compression ratio required for your state of tune is maintained and valve clearance at high RPM by additional pistion machining is done.

BUT

Too thin and the metal around the valve seats will be too thin and it could fall out making a big mess...as happened to me once..LOL
