Default Pipercross or K&N?

Just want a cheap replacement panel filter for the Skoda, not a hell of a lot of difference between these two, I've always swayed towards K&N, opinions?

I would go for the K&N, don't know which pipercross you refer to but if the foam one I used years ago would say a big no, the filter medium is only going to catch things above boulder size!!
Maybe biased as just always used K&N and found no probs.

As with all VAG cars keep your eyes on the MAF as oiled filters tend to result in MAF fouling. For the first month or so I was having to clean my MAF weekly. It's fine now though.

Thanks for the heads up Oranoco, think my MAF needs replacing actually, I get a bit of hesitatation low down the revs - only the foam type filaments are oiled aren't they?

No you oil both types of element, should only be a problem if you over oil it, it will only need the slightest spray to give it a good covering. Any more than that and it won't be absorbed into the sponge, thus sucking through the intake and fouling sensors!

Had Green and Pipercross on my previous and current VAG motors.

Personally I would Pipercross have the edge, they are generally cheaper and cause less MAF fouling in my experience...
